Philippine Embassy in Negara Brunei Darussalam 9/1/2016
Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei Darussalam
September 1, 2016
Bilateral relations between the Philippines and Brunei Darussalam are considered historically close and excellent, vigorously expanding throughout the years. The two countries strong relations emanate from the deepening cooperation and goodwill between the Philippine President and the Sultan of Brunei, and their constituents.
Prior to being recognized as an embassy, the Philippine Consulate-General was first established in Bandar Seri Begawan on August 1983, headed by Consul-General Tristan V. Enverga.
Upon the declaration of Brunei Darussalam’s independence on January 1, 1984, the Philippines established full diplomatic ties with the Sultanate, hence the elevation of the Philippine Consulate-General as the Philippine Embassy in Negara Brunei Darussalam, with Ambassador Benjamin B. Domingo as the first Philippine Ambassador to Brunei.
The Philippines current Ambassador to Brunei Darrusalam is Ambassador Meynardo Montealegre, who assumed post on April 21, 2015. Meanwhile, Brunei’s Ambassador to the Philippines since 2008 is Ambassador Datin Malai Hajah Halimah binti Malai Haji Yussof.

Thunderstorm in Brunei
While staying at my hotel a massive Thunderstorm appeared on the horizon, it was some of the heaviest rain I have ever seen and this tropical downpour and lightning was incredible to see.
I stayed at the Centrepoint Hotel in Bandar Seri Begawan and I filmed this outside the front door there.
Filmed on 4th April 2012.
Tamu Kianggeh 9/1/2016
Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei Darussalam
September 1, 2016
Located on the banks of Kianggeh River, Tamu Kianggeh is one of the cleanest and scenic markets in Brunei that has been around since the 1960s. Most of the stall owners in this market are Bruneian Malays and Chinese selling a wide variety of products such as local vegetables, medicinal plants and herbs from the forest.
Sea and other fresh water goods can also be bought in Tamu Kianggeh, as well as dried anchovies, dried shrimps and salted fish. Likewise, for the ‘foodies’ who don’t normally prepare their own meals, ready-cooked meals are available and all other kinds of local delicacies like kueys (sweet cakes) and rice cakes.
Apart from edible goods, stall owners are also retailing local traditional handicrafts like hand-woven baskets, pots and vases.
Tamu Kianggeh is one of the places worthy of visit in Brunei. However, most of the stalls close in the afternoon, so it is recommended to go in the morning to get the freshest goods.

Festive Stalls | Brunei
The festive atmosphere in conjunction with the 71st birthday celebrations of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam can be seen and felt in the capital especially at night. Despite the pouring rain, the public did not miss the opportunity to bring their families to enjoy the festive atmosphere by watching stage performances and visiting food as well as retail stalls. A total of 167 stalls have been provided at the parking area in front of the Royal Regalia building in the capital. This festive season provides the opportunity for small and medium enterprises to increase their income. However, members of the public are reminded to practise prudent spending, and food stalls owners are urged to maintain cleanliness of their surrounding areas. The celebration's committee also provides a surau for the Muslims' convenience in performing their prayers. Apart from that, a secretariat room and as well as rooms for public servants and personnel who are on duty such as those from the Royal Brunei Police Force, the Fire and Rescue Department, the Municipal Department and the Electrical Department, are also being provided. Various activities have been lined up to further enliven the celebration. On opening night, the celebration stage raised its curtain with the Malam Warna Warni PESTAB performance by the Brunei Local Arts Enthusiasts
