While driving through the Grand Dutchy of Luxemburg I saw the sign of La Vallée des sept châteaux (or the valley of the 7 castles) many times, now as I'm a fan of castles, I wanted to visit the trail for sure.
We didn't end up hiking the trail but instead we visited all castles with the car. Well actually almost all the castles, you'll see in the video why.

Luxembourg and the valley of the 7 castles
The castles are all within an area of 24 km.
Most of the former residences of the nobility, such as the castle of Hollenfels or baroque Ansembourg Castle with its French garden and mythological avenue, allow for a glimpse on past centuries. Others, like the ruins of Koerich, with their characteristic shape, give a picturesque appearance to the village.

1232 tritt Theodorich I., der erste Herr von Mersch in Erscheinung. Er war Ritter und Truchsess der Gräfin Ermesinde. In der Urkunde von 1232 wird eine turris erwähnt.
Theodorich wird eine neue Burg bauen mit einem Wassergraben. Die Burganlage wurde von burgundischen Truppen gestürmt und in Brand gesetzt. Paulus von der Veltz wurde gegen Ende des 16. Jh. alleiniger Besitzer der Burg. Er ließ 1574 einen Grundriss des Merscher Schlosses anfertigen. Der Schlossbering hatte die Außenmaße von 61 x 70 m. Der Graben war 11 m breit. Die Ringmauer war 1,35 m stark, versehen mit 7 Außentürmen. Paulus von der Veltz ließ die mittelalterliche Burg in ein wohnliches Schloss umbauen, indem er in den Bergfried große Fenster brechen ließ...
1930 ließ der damalige Besitzer, Herr Uhres, eine Renovierung durchführen. 1938 wurde in einem Neubau, der an das Schloss angebaut wurde, eine Jugendherberge errichtet. 1957 kaufte die Gemeinde das Schloss. Drei Jahre später ging das Schloss in den Besitz des Staates über. Aber schon 1988 wurde die Gemeinde wieder Besitzer des Schlosses durch einen Tauschvertrag mit dem Staat. Nach Umbauarbeiten bezog die Gemeindeverwaltung 1993 die Räumlichkeiten.

Angelsberg (Luxembourgish: Aangelsbierg) is a small town in the commune of Fischbach, in central Luxembourg. As of 2005, the town's population is 283.
On April 3, 2015, a driver veered off the side of road CR118 between Angelsberg and Mersch, hitting a tree.[1] On May 6, 2016, an accident happened in a similar manner on the same road,[2] prompting the Ministry of Infrastructure to announce new security measures for the road, including new guardrails and more visible warning signs. Appelé à la vie par TISPOL (European Traffic Police Network), 22 pays membres de la communauté européenne participent du 16 au 17 avril 2015 à la journée européenne contre la vitesse excessive. L'opération sera menée conjointement pendant 24 heures.

Luxembourg Trip w/ Bromigo
Second day of the trip was spent walking around Luxembourg City, the Altstadt and catching a couple brews ???? The next day we went touring around to Luxembourg to different cities our ancestors were from on my dad's side. The first city you'll see is Schoenfels which our ancestors left back in the 1700s. Also featured are Mersch, Diekirch (WWII Museum), Vianden (Castle), Clervaux (Battle of the Buldge), and the Schéissendëmpel waterfall. We also tried to visit the American military cemetery but we did too much adventuring and it was closed.
