Russ Marsh is an outstanding, strong, and seasoned Country Western performer. Here he is performing 'Suspicious.'
He makes no apology for his love of our Flag and of the United States of America. He authored several patriotic songs and has recently published an album called simply, 'America.' You can see more about him at russmarsh.com.
Mesa Market Place Swap Meet was fortunate to have him on our stage today. He wowed our audience in the Food Court; and passersby sat down to give him a good listen.
He is a prolific lyricist and song writer. His upcoming album includes a number of his own compositions, including 'I'm Walking in the Footsteps of your Mind,' and 'Talkin',' and 'It's Only Me, It's Only You.'
Thank you for giving Russ Marsh a listen.
Doug Kershaw even complimented Russ Marsh's take on 'Louisiana Man!' What a compliment.

Dan Hosteen Nez Jr at Value Art at Mesa Market Place 2011
Dan Hosteen Nez Jr is one of today's premiere native American artists, and although he sees his world and his art through contemporary eyes, honors many of the traditions of native American artists who came before him.
This video is the first in a series brought to you by Value Art, LLC. They have two open air galleries at Mesa Market Place Swap Meet, in Mesa, Arizona.
Value Art collects and sells artwork that best represents the American southwest, which is as much a state of mind as it is a place on the map. They are committed to producing the best quality product so you get the best value for your money.
Value Art specializes in knowing how to make American artwork a part of your life. Contact them at 480.671.0228 or at value-art.com.
The Mesa Market Place Swap Meet is Phoenix, Arizona's premiere east valley recreational shopping opportunity. It is 1600 booths big and features a food court and stage area with live music, six snack bars, clean restrooms, and is handicap accessible. The Mesa Market Place Swap Meet is located in Mesa, Arizona, off of Hwy 60's at exit 193. Go to mesamarket.com for more info.
Dan Hosteen Nez, Jr. is a self-taught Navajo artist, whose family is deeply rooted in the four corners area of the Navajo reservation. His maternal grandmother was his primary family influence, along with his older brothers.
He learned the basics of sand painting at the age of 19, when his brothers let him use the sands they had collected and processed, to make his first few pieces.
As soon as he began selling his artwork at the trading post, he began to collect his own sand, traveling all over the southwest to find white gypsum, black coal, and red, ochre, and yellow sandstones.
He has been honored by his peers for developing his own signature style within the southwest native American art tradition. His works can be seen in the reference book, the Navajo Art of Sandpainting, by Douglas Congdon-Martin.
Dan Hosteen Nez, Jr, or D.Hosteen Nez, as he signs his work, expresses his love of his peoples through three mediums: sandpainting, oil painting, and even acrylic painting. This video will feature some of his acrylic paintings, but concentrates on what best expresses his deeply rooted love of family, tradition, and the land: sandpainting.
He uses an extensive palette of sand colors, textures, and transparencies to make a sand painting. Each batch of sand he collects is unique. Two different batches may appear to be alike, but are very different in how they color or shade a painting. Some sands are more opaque than others, others more transparent. Some are more creamy, some more granular.
Like the potter who spends weeks to make clay from the earth, sand painters spend lifetimes collecting and turning rocks, dirt, mineral and stone into the sand medium that becomes the paint for their artwork. Their search is never done. There is always another color or texture calling them to travel down dusty and muddy rural roads, and off beaten paths in an endless search.
It is the sand artist's endless quest to find all the colors and textures necessary to make a sand painting.
His favorite artwork subjects are traditional pottery designs, basket weaving, eagle dancers, landscapes, and of course, his family. His acrylic and oil portraits reveal a tenderness and fondness for the people he paints. He captures and honors their inner spirit and the traditions that made them who they are.
