Get to your Galapagos Tour from Quito
So, you've booked your Galapagos tour. Now, how do you get there? Many major US cities have direct flights to Quito, the capital city of Ecuador. From Quito, you will take a domestic flight to the Galapagos Islands, which are located about 600 miles off the coast of the mainland. Keep in mind that all flights to the Galapagos Islands from Quito will have a layover in Guayaquil, the country's largest city. The flight to the Islands from the continent takes between one and a half to two hours to arrive. There are two airports on Baltra Island and San Cristobal Island. You will choose the airport of arrival and departure based on your Galapagos tour itinerary. Contact your tour operator to make sure you book the correct flights. The Santa Cruz II is a multiple-guided ship. What does that mean? It means that, unlike smaller ships that make up the majority of Galapagos Islands cruise ships, our vessel has multiple guides on board, allowing guests to go on excursions with smaller-sized groups. This offers further divisions based on interests, language and activity level. The Santa Cruz's larger size also allows for a higher level of exclusivity because, according to the Galapagos National Park rules, each site has a limit on the number of people, not the number of vessels.
