The Sea Turns Red - Landing At Gallipoli I THE GREAT WAR - Week 40
Completely underestimating the Ottoman army at the Dardanelles, the British commanders decide to let the ANZACs take the Gallipoli peninsular as a gateway to the Bosporus and Constantinople. After the landing in ANZAC Cove and on Z Beach one thing comes clear though: Mustafa Kemal and his troops will fight for every inch of this piece of rock.

SITUATION:
1917. WW1 started 3 years ago.
Germany, Austria-Hungary, Ottoman Empire and Bulgaria are fighting British Empire, France, USA, Italy and Japan. Russia was defeated in 1917 and there is a Civil War.
21 march 1918: Ludenfdorff launch an offensice on the Western front. The offensive is succesfull, Germans enter Paris and France surrenders. War is over.
There is an armistice. The British naval blockade is useless after the collapse of France, so a Entente victory would be too long and costly.
The peace conferece is held in Copenaghen. It’s an armistice, not a complete German victory.
Great Britain do not lose nothing. They are not defeated, and their fleet protect Britain from an invasion.
France lose Morocco, Burkina Faso, Central Africa and Indochina to Germans. Congo is now Germsn, Germans also gain Luxembourg and half Belgium.
Serbia, Montenegro and Albania are now Austria-Hungary protectorate.
Italy have to pay reparations to Austria-Hungary but do not lose territories. Austria has enough ethinc problems.
Slavs inside the Empire are now as numerous as Germans.
Bulgaria annexes Macedonia.
Ottomans gain the control of Saudi Arabia.
The Treaty of Brest-Litovsk on 3 March 1918 remains valid. Finland, the Baltic States,,Poland, Azerbaijan, Belarus and Ukraine are now under German influence.
In the following years, Austria-Hungay Empire and Ottoman Empire do not dissolve. Germany remains a monarchy under Wilhelm II.
Hitler never rises to power.
Germans have now strong interests and colonies in Asia, and are in economic competition with Japan.
Chiang Kay Shek, with German support, bring China under his control.
Karl I is the Austrian Emperor, after Franz Joseph death in 1916.
The rest oft he World follows almost the same historical path we all know, until 1937…

What Are The Chances of World War 3?
The first 1,000 people to sign up to Skillshare will get their first 2 months for free:
According to the New York Times, at least 108 million people have been killed in wars in the twentieth century. The First World War started in Europe and lasted more than 4 years from 1914 to 1918 with 7 million civilians and 10 million military personnel losing their lives. The Second World War lasted for 6 years from 1939 to 1945 with deaths ranging from 50 million to more than 80 million. Both of these wars were catastrophic, but could it happen again? That’s what we’ll find out, in this episode of The Infographics Show: What Are The Chances of World War 3?

The Unknowns: Mystifying UFO Cases
In this video I delve into the expansive and complicated history of American UFO research. More precisely, the government sanctioned undertaking known as Project Blue Book. Many hundreds of cases were left unresolved upon the project's conclusion in 1969. These were dubbed the unknowns. As someone who is largely unfamiliar with UFO history, I explore a select few of these unknowns in order to understand what makes them so mystifying.

'World War One - 1915' is the second of our five-part series covering the Great War. This episode covers one of the first strategic bombing raids in history, when two German Zeppelin airships bombed the British ports of King's Lynn and Great Yarmouth. At sea, the British Royal Navy won the Battle of Dogger Bank. Germany then announced an Exclusion Zone around the British Isles, where its U-boats waged 'unrestricted submarine warfare' against British ships.
On the Eastern Front, 1915 began with further success for German Field Marshal Paul von Hindenburg, defeating the Russians at the Second Battle of Masurian Lakes. But the Russians had their own success at Przemyśl, taking 100,000 Austro-Hungarian prisoners.
British and French battleships arrived at the Dardanelles, intending to force the Ottoman Empire to surrender by threatening its capital, Constantinople. But Turkish shore-forts and sea mines caused heavy losses amongst Allied ships. Troops landed at Gallipoli, including the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (ANZACs), became pinned down by fierce Turkish resistance.
On the Western Front, the British attacked at Neuve Chapelle. Indian Army units played a major role, but the offensive ended in failure. A German attack at Ypres opened with the first use of chemical weapons on the Western Front.
In April, the Ottoman Empire began the arrest, deportation and execution of ethnic Armenians, whom they suspected of sympathising with Turkey's enemies. The events remain controversial, with the Turkish government arguing that the number of deaths has been exaggerated and cannot be described as 'genocide'. Most historians and many other national governments disagree, describing these events as the Armenian Genocide and placing the death-toll between 1 and 1.5 million.
At sea, British passenger ship RMS Lusitania was sunk by a U-boat, leading to 1,198 civilian deaths, including 128 Americans. President Woodrow Wilson and the American public were outraged. In response to American warnings, Germany agreed to suspend attacks on passenger ships.
A new Allied attempt to break the Western Front stalemate at the Second Battle of Artois ended with heavy losses, after failed attacks at Vimy Ridge, Aubers Ridge and Festubert. In the air, Germany gained air superiority thanks to the Fokker Eindecker, a monoplane armed with a forward-firing machine-gun.
In June 1915 Italy joined the war, attacking Austria-Hungary in the first of many battles of the Isonzo River. At Gallipoli, the Allies failed to break the stalemate with new landings at Suvla Bay and a series of attacks known as the Battle of Sari Bair (including ANZAC assaults at Lone Pine and the Nek.)
France and Britain launched their Great Autumn Offensive to relieve pressure on their Russian ally. But French attacks at the Third Battle of Artois and Second Battle of Champagne, as well as a British attack at the Battle of Loos, led to massive losses with few significant gains.
In the Balkans, the Allies landed troops at Salonika in Greece, hoping to bring aid to Serbia. But when Bulgaria entered the war on the side of the Central Powers, Serbian forces were outflanked and outnumbered. Belgrade fell, and Serbia was overrun. The Serbian army fled through the Albanian mountains, but suffered catastrophic losses from hunger and cold.
CORRECTION: the map shows Cyprus as part of the Ottoman Empire. Cyprus was part of the Ottoman Empire from 1570 to 1914, but when the Ottoman Empire joined the Central Powers in November 1914, Cyprus was annexed by Britain.

Biblical Series I: Introduction to the Idea of God
Lecture I in my Psychological Significance of the Biblical Stories series from May 16th at Isabel Bader Theatre in Toronto. In this lecture, I describe what I consider to be the idea of God, which is at least partly the notion of sovereignty and power, divorced from any concrete sovereign or particular, individual person of power. I also suggest that God, as Father, is something akin to the spirit or pattern inherent in the human hierarchy of authority, which is based in turn on the dominance hierarchies characterizing animals.

Greater flamingo Phoenicopterus ruber roseus - ZOO in Opole - Ultra HD video 4K
The greater flamingo (Phoenicopterus roseus) is the most widespread species of the flamingo family. It is found in parts of Africa, southern Asia (Bangladesh and coastal regions of Pakistan and India), and Palestine, and southern Europe (including Spain, Albania, Turkey, Greece, Cyprus, Portugal, Italy and the Camargue region of France). Some populations[which?] are short distance migrants, and sightings north of the breeding range are relatively frequent; however, given the species' popularity in captivity, whether or not these are truly wild individuals is a matter of some debate. A single bird was seen on North Keeling Island (Cocos (Keeling) Islands) in 1988. This is the largest species of flamingo, averaging 110–150 cm (43–60 in) tall and weighing 2–4 kg (4.4–8.8 lbs). The largest male flamingos have been recorded at up to 187 cm (74 in) tall and 4.5 kg (10 lbs). It is closely related to the American flamingo and Chilean flamingo, with which it has sometimes been considered conspecific, but that treatment is now widely seen (e.g., by the American and British Ornithologists' Union) as incorrect and based on insufficient evidence.
Like all flamingos, this species lays a single chalky-white egg on a mud mound. Most of the plumage is pinkish-white, but the wing coverts are red and the primary and secondary flight feathers are black. The bill is pink with a restricted black tip, and the legs are entirely pink. The call is a goose-like honking. Sub-adult flamingos are whitish-grey and only attain the pink coloration several years into their adult life. The coloration comes from the carotenoid pigments in the organisms that live in their feeding grounds.
The bird resides in mudflats and shallow coastal lagoons with salt water. Using its feet, the bird stirs up the mud, then sucks water through its bill and filters out small shrimp, seeds, blue-green algae, microscopic organisms and mollusks. The greater flamingo feeds with its head down and its upper jaw is movable and not rigidly fixed to its skull. The average lifespan in captivity, according to Zoo Basel, is over 60 years.
The oldest known greater flamingo was a bird at the Adelaide Zoo in Australia who died aged at least 83 years old. The bird's exact age is not known; he was already a mature adult when he arrived in Adelaide in 1933. He was euthanized in January 2014 due to complications of old age. Known as Greater or Flamingo 1, Adelaide Zoo's greater flamingo survived an attack by four youths in 2008.
Elegancki wygląd zawdzięcza smukłej sylwetce i stonowanemu ubarwieniu. Wydaje gdaczący i trąbiący dźwięk, przypominający odgłosy gęsi.
Młode ptaki są szarobrązowe, a od spodu białawe.
Wody o różnym stopniu zasolenia: od słodkich przez słonawe po bardzo słone. Płytkie jeziora, laguny, delty rzek. Gniazduje w koloniach do 200 000 osobników.
