Monasteries Dissolved By Henry VIII - Part 5

Part 5 of a series of videos of monasteries that were dissolved by Henry VIII of England in the Dissolution of the Monasteries (Suppression of the Monasteries). From 1536 - 1541 Henry VIII disbanded monasteries in England, Wales, and Ireland. Some monastic foundations dated back to Anglo-Saxon England, the overwhelming majority of the 825 religious communities dissolved by Henry VIII owed their existence to the wave of monastic enthusiasm that had swept England and Wales in the 11th and 12th centuries. NOTE: This series does not include every monastery that was apart of the Dissolution of Monasteries. Only those for which pictures and information could be found.
