[Hokkaido Trip in Shikabe Town] You'll shout for joy as the geyser shoots up at this Michi-no-Eki!
Water as hot as approximately 103 degrees Celsius shoots up to 15 m in the air at this geyser. At Shikabe Geyser Park, the foot bath relaxes you as you watch the geyser, and steaming kettles are prepared for tourists to cook ingredients purchased at the Michi-no-Eki using the steam from the hot spring. Cooking classes to learn how to prepare local dishes using fresh seafood caught that day are tremendously popular!

Access: by rental car or taxi: approx. 1 hr. 5 min. from Hakodate Airport
By bus: approx. 20 min. from Hakodate Airport to Hakodate Station by shuttle bus → ride the Hakodate Bus from Hakodate Station [bound for Hakodate, Shikabe (by way of Onuma Park) and Shikabe branch office] for approx. 1 hr. 45 min. and get off at Michi-no-Eki Shikabe Geyser Park bus stop

Aerial footage of some of the scenic spots we stopped by during our Hokkaido road trip in a camper-van. Landed at New Chitose airport on 28th June night and after spending the night in our camper-van at Chitose town Michi-no-eki, we set off in the morning of the following day and ended our adventure at the same Michi-no-eki on the 6th July after
traversing 1700 km of stunningly beautiful Hokkaido.

A trip to Lake Saroma in Hokkaido – A chance to try freshly caught scallops from Lake Saroma
I went on a fishing boat to see off-shore scallop fishing. Freshly caught scallops were prepared for consumption on the boat. It was a memorable experience.
Grilled scallops are also great! Try them and other types of seafood at Lake Saroma Michi-no-eki.

The sunset of Uchiura Bay is a very beautiful road station Aputa.
The road station on the hill, so you can see the surroundings and the scenery is very good.
At one time, there were places to enjoy souvenir corners and meals, so I think that you can taste delicious seafood goods near Toya.
There is a harbor in front of me, so I can enjoy fishing as well.
It will be close to Lake Toya soon, so after a break at the road station I think that it is good to go sightseeing a little by going to Lake Toya.
There are various hot springs in Lake Toya, so I think that it is good to continue driving after entering a hot spring and relaxing for a while.
内浦湾の夕日がとっても綺麗な道の駅あぷたです。
この道の駅は小高い丘の上にあるので周りが一望できて景色がとても良いです。
一回では、お土産コーナーや食事を楽しめる場所もありましたので、洞爺近郊の美味しい海の幸も味は出来ると思います。
目の前には、港もあり釣りも楽しめそうです。
ここまでくると洞爺湖までもすぐ近くになりますので、道の駅で休憩した後には洞爺湖までちょっと足を伸ばし観光して行くのも良いと思います。
洞爺湖には色々と温泉もありますので、温泉に入って少しくつろいでからドライブの続きをするのも良いと思います。

Diamond Princess visited in the Port of Muroran on September 30th 2012. She was schedulled to call at Aomori on the following day for her maiden visit but she omitted to visit that port because of Typhoon.
Climbing Mount Muroran North Ridge
Mount Muroran on Hokkaido is a popular trekking peak from the south side but the existence of the north route is a secret. It is not mentioned in any internet resources on the mountain. The reason probably is that there apparently have been multiple accidents, people going missing or discovered dead in the area. I have found the old climbing course after some months wanting to traverse the peak from mysterious Kawamata hot spring to Muroran where I live. On my way I found the reason and the probable place where all the disappearances and fatal accidents take place. Take a look !
