A geyser with natural springs blowing up vigorously about 15 m at intervals of about 10 minutes.
Michi-no-Eki ASAGIRI KOGEN
You can get a spectacular view of the Mt. Fuji from
the observatory in back of the roadside rest area.
The next building on this right is the ASAGIRI Food Park.

Michi no Eki Series: Takahara 車中泊編
The last one of three Michi no Eki videos. This one is in Takahara, near Hiroshima. We were driving toward Kyushu. The town was famous for the preserved old Japan part of town. What's amazing about this Michi no Eki is you can actually sleep inside if you want to! The front door to the main building shop stays open all night so travelers can sit around, tap the WiFi signal, stay warm, and use the bathrooms. What a concept!

It is a roadside station in Takinoue.
In the property sale office, we sell a lot of products unique to Takinoue such as woodworks, mints, mints and cheese.
There are things that can be eaten on the spot, so I think that it will be fun if you take a break.
You can also eat delicious sweets such as soft cream in a small building next to you, so please try by all means there too.

This video of our shopping spree in this gift shop is being held up pending my dispute with WGM on behalf of East West Records U.K. Ltd who are groussing about the song Rockabye (feat. Sean Paul & Anne-Marie) - Clean Bandit. The tune, barely perceptible to the human ear (but apparently perceptible enough for the technology used nowadays to nab pirates), was playing on the store's overhead speakers.
May 4, 2017: received notice from YouTube that the dispute settled in favor of the complainant. So there's a section of the video that I just ran an alternative soundtrack over. Tsk! Picky, picky, picky....

[Hokkaido Trip in Shikabe Town] You'll shout for joy as the geyser shoots up at this Michi-no-Eki!
Water as hot as approximately 103 degrees Celsius shoots up to 15 m in the air at this geyser. At Shikabe Geyser Park, the foot bath relaxes you as you watch the geyser, and steaming kettles are prepared for tourists to cook ingredients purchased at the Michi-no-Eki using the steam from the hot spring. Cooking classes to learn how to prepare local dishes using fresh seafood caught that day are tremendously popular!

Access: by rental car or taxi: approx. 1 hr. 5 min. from Hakodate Airport
By bus: approx. 20 min. from Hakodate Airport to Hakodate Station by shuttle bus → ride the Hakodate Bus from Hakodate Station [bound for Hakodate, Shikabe (by way of Onuma Park) and Shikabe branch office] for approx. 1 hr. 45 min. and get off at Michi-no-Eki Shikabe Geyser Park bus stop

Michi no eki is a unique roadside rest are in Japan. Some michi-no-eki are only 9am to 5pm, and others are 24-hour operations with vast grocery stores that rival any you'd find in a big city. There's usually at least one restaurant housed in the main michi-no-eki building, sometimes more than one, and always vending machines selling hot and cold drinks. Because each michi-no-eki showcases local products, you are likely to see flowers, produce, baked goods, coffee, and locally made crafts on sale.

We stopped by the michi-no eki in Buzen, on the way to Yufuin (both in Kyushu). Just off the highway, it carried a huge amount of vegetables and fruit -- all super fresh and offered at great prices.
