We started our morning with our breakfast cooked in the wild, which gave us a good boost for the day and most importantly...warmed us up.
We entered our first national park of the whole trip 'Jasper National Park' and received our free pass to visit all other national parks in Canada as it's country's 150th birthday.
Our first stop was beautiful lake called 'Maligne Lake'. Unfortunately, we didn't get to see the iconic Spirit Island but seeing two moose in real made up for that.
We then drove to Miette Hot Springs where we spent a good hour indulging ourselves in super hot pools in super cold weather.
We ended our day with some delicious dinner right in the heart of Jasper Town.
We hope that you enjoyed this video and make sure to come back for more as the trip is just getting better and better.

Leave everything and wander” is the result of Sara Bertagnolli’s and Luca Sguazzini’s desire to join their own skills and realize a dream: that of traveling, leaving the certainties and securities of everyday life behind.
After university Sara achieved high-level professional goals in the field of management and became the personal assistant to the fashion designer Philipp Plein.
Luca has been traveling a lot since he was a child and the last year he gained notoriety for his participation in the Italian version of “Dancing with the stars”; he has more than 138k followers on Instagram and 50k on Facebook.
They have decided to join forces and to tell a life out of the ordinary on social networks. The plan is to travel through Canada, Alaska and, in a second moment, United States, Messico and South America and to share the trip’s photos and videos on Youtube, Facebook and Instagram, giving to everyone the possibility to experience the “wander-spirit”.
Traveling without temporal or spatial limits will give Sara and Luca the possibility to entangle their story with that of people they will meet on the road and to discover new cultures, visiting also the places which are not famous, the ones which often have the biggest surprises in store.
The start-up budget will be limited in order to demonstrate that – also without great economical resources – everything is possible if you put the work in and involve as many people as possible.

For the first time on a backpack, I had a shuttle to catch so to speak. I had told the cab company out of Hinton that I'd call them around noon. So I had to get my butt out of bed and over Utopia pass by then. It went fairly well.
Utopia pass is quite nice. Not vast valley views like Fiddle pass or some others but nice all the same. Once I got down I finally encountered humans for the first time since starting up the Fiddle Pass trail on Day 2. I also got food at Miette hot springs....which was heavenly.
This section of the trail is described in the Canadian Rockies Trail Guide as Fiddle River. Trail 126 page 250 in the 9th edition. One campground in the guide is incorrectly labelled Fiddle Campground at kms 20.7. That's actually Whitehorse Campground. The real Fiddle Campground is on the Whitehorse Wildlands side of the pass.
Little side note... this is my 100th youTube video. :)

RVing North to Alaska: Sheep, Bears & Getting into Hot Water in Jasper National Park, Alberta Canada
Today we continue our push northwards and leave the Icefields behind and discover the Eastside of Jasper National Park on our way to Dawson Creek. We find ourselves a nice campsite at the Pocahontas Campground just a few miles from the Miette Hot Springs. We take advantage of being so close to the springs and go for a soak. Along the road we run into 5 bear as well as some very friendly sheep along the way. (Season 2 Episode 7)

Day 2 was another crazy day. I started by day hiking as far as I could up the main Whitehorse Wildlands Provincial Park trail to Whitehorse falls. I encountered an unexpected crossing and I hadn't brought my crocs so I had to straddle a tree to keep my shoes dry. After that I reached the lower falls but only saw a party area. Not sure if that was Whitehorse Falls Campground or not since there was no green throne or bear hang. Pushing further on I had another difficult rock hop only to find the trail was flooded so I never reached the upper falls. At least on the way up there I found Harlequin patrol cabin.
Upon my return I set out up the pass. Nasty ripped up muddy trail and I got hit with 2 thunderstorms at the pass that threw out a lot of sleet. Also had to negotiate some snow on the Jasper National Park side. Made it through though.
I also tried in vain, twice, to find a cabin that was up there with minimal knowledge. Turns out it was like 2.5 kms off the trail. I had no idea. I found a waterfall though that few people ever see so that was cool. Overall a fun entertaining day.
This trail on the Whitehorse Wilderness side is basically only described online. It's also in Don Beers book Jasper-Robson: a taste of heaven. But that could be a difficult book to get your hands on since he self publishes. On the Jasper National Park side it is described in the Canadian Rockies Trail Guide as Fiddle River. Trail 126 page 250 in the 9th edition. One campground in the guide is incorrectly labelled Fiddle Campground at kms 20.7. That's actually Whitehorse Campground. This day I did something different. I filmed the difficulties getting this backpack underway. It started with me in Victoria, British Columbia. I flew back to Calgary and drove up a dirt road for 126 kms (had a good scare trying to get over a washed out section). That drive was 5 and half hours. Hell of a way to start a backpack! Often getting to the trailhead of a backpack is as much work as the backpack itself with the transport, planning, and overall logistics of it. I thought I would show this particularly difficult transport day.
After that the backpack went relatively fine. It was only 7.5 kms to Sawmill Campground dealing with the occasional rain shower.
In retrospect I'm very happy I didn't go all the way to Whitehorse Falls Campground. The original plan was to backpack to that campground then come back to the fiddle pass trail and continue on. Instead I ended up doing it as as day hike on day 2 and it was tough even without most of my pack weight.
The whole point of going up that trail was to try to see the whole thing on this backpack. That was thwarted though as I couldn't get to the upper falls since the trail was flooded and I'm not even sure I saw the campground. All I saw was a party area. No green throne or bear hang. Plus there was another trail (Tripoli ridge...??) that carried on further.
This trail isn't really described anywhere but the internet. It's also in Don Beers book Jasper-Robson: a taste of heaven. That can be a tough book to get your hands on though since he self publishes. I think I found some info on club tread and trail peaks or something. Maps on the official park site. Distances are hard to know though.
