Miho Shrine - Shimane - 美保神社
The Miho Shrine is located at the eastern end of Shimane Peninsula in the fishing village of Mihonoseki. Built around 1500, Miho Shrine is dedicated to Ebisu the deity of fishermen, thriving business, music and dance. Being the god of music and dance, priests and locals have collected from across Japan almost 900 musical instruments into the shrine main over the centuries. Included are Japan’s old music box and accordion!

Shimane prefecture is located on the southwest side of Japan’s main Honshu Island.
In Shimane, we will visit Izumo Taisha, a big shrine that is famous for its giant sized sacred rope, and then the Matsue, Yasugi, and Miho Areas.
My channel, Japan Silhouette, features beautiful scenery, traditional culture, Origami arrangement, and the warm heart of the Japanese people.
I also visit other countries and record my impression about them, perhaps from a Japanese perspective.

美保神社で毎朝行われる朝御饍祭で奉納された巫女舞を撮影しました。
平成２９年５月１６日撮影。
動画の最初に聴こえる鳥の囀が島根半島の自然環境を想像させてくれます。
美保神社では、毎日朝8:30からと午後15:30からの2回、年中無休で巫女舞が奉納されています。
毎日、季節や天候の違いで表情を変える光と舞が美しい。

＜美保神社＞
主祭神はえびす様
漁業、海運、商売繁栄の守り神として信仰されているほか、豊作祈願の神様ともされます。
本殿は、大社造を2棟並べた美保造り(比翼大社造)と呼ばれる珍しい建築様式。
また美保の神は鳴り物が好きだと言うことから一般には公開されていませんが、宝物館には出雲琴などの古い和楽器が８５０点以上、日本最古のオルゴールも奉納されています。
＜青石畳＞
美保関神社の参道となる、島根県美保関町美保関の「青石畳通り(aoishidatami_doori)」。
海辺の石を切り取り、通りに敷き詰めたのは江戸時代中頃とされています。
長さが約２００ｍ、幅約３ｍの参道全部が石で覆われるまでに約１００年かかったと言われます。
江戸時代に、近くの美保関港に寄港する北前船に積荷を乗せようと大八車が通りを往復しました。
そのために固い道路が必要となり、住民が結束して、石畳にしたと言われています。
現在は大八車も通らなくなったものの、美保神社への参拝者や美保関を訪れる観光客に古き美保関の歴史を語りかけます。

◇Mihonoseki
Mihonoseki is located on the tip of a peninsula on the western side of Matsue City, Shimane Prefecture, and is a stage to many Japanese legends. An old seaport town, Mihonoseki even today is host to various events and architecture that have origins in stories relating to the genesis of Japan.
Miho Shrine, the symbol of the town, performs a ritual without fail every single morning and evening. Visitors can freely view the beautiful shrine maidens performing their ritual dance.
In front of the shrine gate lays Aoishitatami-dori, an old townscape where the road remains inlaid with flat stones. Enjoy a walk while eating local gourmet specialties such as dried squid and fish from Masutani Fish Shop and soy sauce flavored ice cream from Taiko Soy Sauce Shop.
A fishing port can be seen from Miho-kan, a long-established ryokan (Japanese-style inn), which was built over 100 years ago and even now embodies the spirit of the good old days. From the inside of the building visitors can take in the view of the harbor and can learn Japan’s traditional ikebana (flower arrangement) from the ryokan’s mistress. If a traveler borrows a fishing pole at the harbor, they will be surprised by the number of cats that gather round that live in the harbor area.
Enveloped in a timeless flow, spend time with people who live in tandem with the good traditions of old. It will become a journey where you encounter the roots of Japan.
◇Hino
Hino lies in Tottori Prefecture at the base of Mt. Daisen, the tallest mountain in the San’in Region. This town was once a large production center for tatara, or Japan’s traditional method of iron-making. At the heart of the old city roadways, old stores and traditional Japanese-style houses still remain. The streets are dotted with simple, quaint places where you can participate in various cultural experiences.
Soba cultivation thrives in this region, and you can experience making soba noodles for yourself with locally grown soba flour. At Tokiwasure-shimizuya, an old Japanese-style home, you can taste the master’s artfully made soba, and of course the noodles you make yourself.
At Guest House Orenchi, you can make your own mini bonsai tree and take it home with you. Along the old streets is also Tea House Ogata. One of the highlights of this shop that you can learn how to correctly drink traditional Japanese green tea in a relaxed, laid-back atmosphere. Visitors can spend peaceful time here and experience traditional Japanese culture that thrives amidst local everyday life.
If you want to stretch your legs, you can visit one of the three great riverheads stemming from Mt. Daisen: Kidanisawa Mountain Stream. If you drink the water from the springhead, whose beauty and mystery and harkens of the world of Studio Ghibli animations, your mind and body will be purified.

I stayed in Matsue, Japan and spent the day visiting Adachi museum garden which was incredibly beautiful and impressive to walk through. I also visited Izumo Taisha (Shrine) which is one of Japan's most important and impressive shinto shrines.
If you are staying in the area then these two can be combined for what might be a perfect day trip in Japan's less visited area.

2016年1月3日にi出雲の三大パワースポットの一つである松江の八重垣神社にお参りしました。沢山の参拝客で賑わっていました。去年は雪が有ったのですが、今年は天気が良く暖かい一日でした。正月という事で、「コミカル版」に仕上げました。
八重垣神社は”スサノオの尊”がヤマタノオロチ（八岐大蛇）を退治して助けた”稲田姫”と過ごした地で、”スサノオの尊”の詠った和歌「「八雲立つ出雲八重垣妻籠みに八重垣作るその八重垣を」は日本最初の和歌と言われます。年間70万人以上の若い女性が都会から良縁を求めて参拝に訪れる”恋の聖地”です。神社にある「鏡の池」は”稲田姫”がその姿を映した池と言われ、そこで占いの紙を浮かべて占う「鏡の池恋占い」は大人気です。

Miho Shrine ・ 美保神社
美保神社（みほじんじゃ）は、島根県松江市にある神社である。式内社では、旧社格は国幣中社です。
事代主神系えびす社3千才社の総本社であると自称している（但しこの3千才は罰子神系のえびす社とあわせた数であり正確でない。えびす云々ではなく事代主神を祀る神社の総本宮の意思と思い）。えびす神としての商売繁盛の神徳のほか、漁業・海運の神、田の虫除けの神として信仰を集める。また、「鳴り物」の神様としても楽器の奉納も多。
[祭神]
右殿に大國主神の子の事代主神、左殿に大國主神の後の三穂津姫命を祀る。
（三穂津姫命は大國主神の幸魂奇魂（さきみたま・くしみたま）である「大物主神」の後神。事代主命は神屋楯比売神（かむやたてひめ）と大国主神との間の子供のことで義理の母親にあたる）
「出雲国風土記」には、大穴持命（大國主神）と奴奈宣波比売命（奴奈川姫命）の間に生まれた「御穂須須美命」が美保郷に坐すとの記述がある。元々の当社の祭神は御穂須須美命のうちであったが、記紀神話の影響により事代主神と三穂津姫命とされたものとみるる。
[歴史]
創建の由緒は不詳であるが、8世紀に編纂された「出雲国風土記」の神社台帳に記載される古社である。延喜式神名簿では小社に列する。
中世より横山氏が神職を世襲した。近世ごろから「大社（出雲大社）だけでは片引参り」と言われるように、出雲大社と同様に参拝者が増えるようになった。出雲大社とあわせて「出雲のえびすだいこく」と総称される。
明治18年（1885年）に国幣中社に列せられ、第二次大戦後は神社本庁の別表神社となった。

現在の本殿は文化10年（1813年）の造営。大社造の左右二院連棟の特殊形状で「美保造」または「比翼大社造」とされ、国の重要文化財に指定されているこのような様式は文書によると天正年にその痕跡がうかがわれるが、現在の整備された構造は、文禄五年、吉川廣家が朝鮮出兵で朝鮮にあった立てのために造営をした時代で復活することができます。昭和3年（1928年）に拝殿以下、現在の神域を完成させたが、本殿を始める拝殿、神門、廻廊、通商ともに屋根は拝皮葺である。本殿2棟の間に末社・大後社があり、3社5神（大後社神屋盾比売命、沼河比売命、姫子社媛蹈鞴五十鈴忌命、五十鈴依火、神使社稲脊骨命）を祀る。

[祭事]
青柴垣（あおふしがき）神事・諸手船（もろたぶね）神は国譲り神話に因むものである。12月の諸手船神事は、大國主命が国譲りの是非を相談するため息子の言代主神に使者を送ったとき故事を再現する、4月の青柴垣神事は、国得を決めた言代主神が船を青師垣に変えてその中身を隠すが、再び神として甦る様子を再現するてい。1年間鶏肉鶏卵を避け、毎日海で身を清めた2人の当屋が前日から断食し、青柴垣を飾った2隻の船に乗り、港内を一周後、美保神社に参拝、奉幣する。

公民館の横に駐車場（無料：十数台分のスペース）と公衆便所あり、神社までは徒歩1分。

Matsue, located between the shores of Lake Shinji (Shinjiko) and Lake Nakaumi, is known as the water city. Being the capital of Shimane Prefecture, Matsue is not only the center of commerce, but has traditionally roots.
This samurai city’s places to see includes the Matsue Castle, famous for being one of the few original wooden castles still existing in Japan. The former residence of Lafcadio Hearn’s, an Irish journalist, is another popular sights. The Ohashi River divides the city into two parts. Not being a big city to explore, visitors can walk around the various sights, perhaps while enjoying wagashi, Japanese traditional sweets, which Matsue is also famous for.
