Spectacular Japan: Mihonoseki Lighthouse (美保関灯台, মিহনসেকি বাতিঘর)
মিহনসেকি বাতিঘর জাপানের একটা অন্যতম পুরাতন বাতিঘরগুলোর একটি। এটি ১০০ বছরের বেশি পুরানো, ১৮৯৮ সালে স্থাপিত। আকারে খুব বেশি বড় না হলেও এটি ওয়েস্টার্ন জাপানের একটা জনপ্রিয় দর্শনীয় স্থান। এটি Shimane Prefecture-এর Matsue থেকে ২৫ কিমি. দূরত্বে।
Mihonoseki Lighthouse is an historic lighthouse that was founded in 1898.
The lighthouse itself is 14 m tall. It is a stately stone-built construction designed by a French engineer, and was added to the IALA list of 100 lighthouses as historic and architectural monuments (a list proposed by the International Association of Marine Aids to Navigation and Lighthouse Authorities [IALA] in 1998, containing five lighthouses in Japan).

◇Mihonoseki
Mihonoseki is located on the tip of a peninsula on the western side of Matsue City, Shimane Prefecture, and is a stage to many Japanese legends. An old seaport town, Mihonoseki even today is host to various events and architecture that have origins in stories relating to the genesis of Japan.
Miho Shrine, the symbol of the town, performs a ritual without fail every single morning and evening. Visitors can freely view the beautiful shrine maidens performing their ritual dance.
In front of the shrine gate lays Aoishitatami-dori, an old townscape where the road remains inlaid with flat stones. Enjoy a walk while eating local gourmet specialties such as dried squid and fish from Masutani Fish Shop and soy sauce flavored ice cream from Taiko Soy Sauce Shop.
A fishing port can be seen from Miho-kan, a long-established ryokan (Japanese-style inn), which was built over 100 years ago and even now embodies the spirit of the good old days. From the inside of the building visitors can take in the view of the harbor and can learn Japan’s traditional ikebana (flower arrangement) from the ryokan’s mistress. If a traveler borrows a fishing pole at the harbor, they will be surprised by the number of cats that gather round that live in the harbor area.
Enveloped in a timeless flow, spend time with people who live in tandem with the good traditions of old. It will become a journey where you encounter the roots of Japan.
◇Hino
Hino lies in Tottori Prefecture at the base of Mt. Daisen, the tallest mountain in the San’in Region. This town was once a large production center for tatara, or Japan’s traditional method of iron-making. At the heart of the old city roadways, old stores and traditional Japanese-style houses still remain. The streets are dotted with simple, quaint places where you can participate in various cultural experiences.
Soba cultivation thrives in this region, and you can experience making soba noodles for yourself with locally grown soba flour. At Tokiwasure-shimizuya, an old Japanese-style home, you can taste the master’s artfully made soba, and of course the noodles you make yourself.
At Guest House Orenchi, you can make your own mini bonsai tree and take it home with you. Along the old streets is also Tea House Ogata. One of the highlights of this shop that you can learn how to correctly drink traditional Japanese green tea in a relaxed, laid-back atmosphere. Visitors can spend peaceful time here and experience traditional Japanese culture that thrives amidst local everyday life.
If you want to stretch your legs, you can visit one of the three great riverheads stemming from Mt. Daisen: Kidanisawa Mountain Stream. If you drink the water from the springhead, whose beauty and mystery and harkens of the world of Studio Ghibli animations, your mind and body will be purified.

島根県松江市の旧美保関（みほのせき）町区間から鳥取県境港（さかいみなと）市への境水道大橋[V0006]が架かりますが、島根半島の先端の地蔵崎にある美保関灯台から美保湾沿いに西進する海沿いはほぼ全線で快走できます。途中、半島の峠道を越えて日本海側の漁港も訪問し、境水道大橋も往復しています。 ぜひ、絶景眺望走行動画など、ドライブ気分に浸って頂き、満喫頂ければと思います。

Matsue, located between the shores of Lake Shinji (Shinjiko) and Lake Nakaumi, is known as the water city. Being the capital of Shimane Prefecture, Matsue is not only the center of commerce, but has traditionally roots.
This samurai city’s places to see includes the Matsue Castle, famous for being one of the few original wooden castles still existing in Japan. The former residence of Lafcadio Hearn’s, an Irish journalist, is another popular sights. The Ohashi River divides the city into two parts. Not being a big city to explore, visitors can walk around the various sights, perhaps while enjoying wagashi, Japanese traditional sweets, which Matsue is also famous for.

Vous avez toujours rêvé de barbouiller le visage de votre voisin avec de l'encre ? C'est le moment de réaliser ce rêve d'enfant !
Deux fois par an (et ce depuis plus de 250 ans !), les habitants et quelques touristes aventureux se rassemblent dans le port de Mihonoseki et repartent avec le visage couvert d'encre de chine mélangée à du saké et appliquée traditionnellement avec une rondelle de radis blanc !
Dans le même temps, une divinité est transportée entre différents temples à bras d'hommes. Ceux-ci font également quelques mètres dans l'eau du port en été comme en hiver !
Mihonoseki étant une ville portuaire, la croyance veut que l'encre appliquée vous protège des maladies et des naufrages en mer pour un an ! Alors, des volontaires ?

Haven't we always dreamed of drawing on our friends' face with ink? It's time to realize your childhood dream!
Twice a year (for more than 250 years !), the people of Mihonoseki Harbour and some adventurous tourists gather in the harbour and go back home the face covered by Chinese ink blended with sake and traditionally applied using slices of daikon radish.
Some participants also help carry a god between local shrines. It is carried quite a distance in the water of the port in both summer and winter!
As Mihonoseki is a port city, it is said that the ink applied on your face wil protect you from illnesses and shipwrecks for one year! Any volunteers?

美保神社で毎朝行われる朝御饍祭で奉納された巫女舞を撮影しました。
平成２９年５月１６日撮影。
動画の最初に聴こえる鳥の囀が島根半島の自然環境を想像させてくれます。
美保神社では、毎日朝8:30からと午後15:30からの2回、年中無休で巫女舞が奉納されています。
毎日、季節や天候の違いで表情を変える光と舞が美しい。

The port town of Yunotsu is a part of Iwami Silver Mine World Heritage Site. The town had had a significant role in world history as one third of silver circulated around the world was shipped out from this port in the 17th century. The town is also known by its hot springs. The water from its hot springs is widely regarded as having many health benefits, and it was recently awarded as the best hot spring in Japan by the Japan Spa Association.

Sakai suidou oohashi (Sakai waterworks big bridge) is curved chord truss bridge.
Sakai waterworks is a first-grade river in about 600 m of margin which flows between Tottori Prefecture SakaiminatoCity and Matsue-shi, Shimane Mihonoseki-cho, and 10,000 tons of shipping in a class sails around Sakaiminato which meets with the Sea of Japan.
A Sakai waterworks big bridge is the bridge where Sakai waterworks is crossed and Tottori and Shimane both prefectures are connected literally.

島根半島には最西端に「日御碕灯台」があり、最東端に「美保関灯台」があります。いずれも日本に５つしかない「世界灯台１００選」に選ばれるほど歴史的な灯台です。
美保関の中心部（美保神社とか旅館街・美保関港）から約2ｋｍ。
■世界灯台１００選：
明治３１年（１８９８年）１１月８日に初点灯された山陰最古の灯台。灯台の高さは１４ｍ、水面からの高さは８３ｍとなっており、美保湾を隔てて大山、弓ヶ浜、また遠く隠岐の島を望むことができ、景観の眺望は雄大で素晴らしい灯台です。
明治の面影をとどめた石造りの風格ある建物で、平成１０年にドイツのハンブルグで開催されたＩＡＬＡ（国際航路標識協会）の総会において、歴史的・文化的価値のある文化遺産として「世界の歴史的灯台１００選」に選ばれました。 また、「日本の灯台５０選」にも選ばれている日本を代表する灯台です。灯台に隣接した旧事務所や宿舎は、現在は「ビュッフェ」に改築されており、日本海を眺めながら休息できます。（下記の美保関町観光公式サイトより引用）

San-in oldest lighthouse turned on for the first time (1898) on November 8 in 1898. As for the height of the lighthouse, 14m, the height from the surface of the water become 83m, and far-off again, Mt.Daisen, yumigahama can expect Okinoshima across Gulf of Miho and are the lighthouse which the view of the scene is magnificent, and is splendid.

Miho Shrine - Shimane - 美保神社
The Miho Shrine is located at the eastern end of Shimane Peninsula in the fishing village of Mihonoseki. Built around 1500, Miho Shrine is dedicated to Ebisu the deity of fishermen, thriving business, music and dance. Being the god of music and dance, priests and locals have collected from across Japan almost 900 musical instruments into the shrine main over the centuries. Included are Japan’s old music box and accordion!
