Mildura is a regional city in north west Victoria. It’s about 6-hour drive from Melbourne. Mildura is known as the centre of Victoria’s food bowl, supplying 80% of Victoria’s grapes.
I like that there were lots of palm streets in the streets, reminiscent of the iconic South Windsor Boulevard in Los Angeles. Nevertheless, the rest of the town has got a very European vibe.
We stayed at the Grand Hotel, which is managed by the Quality hotel chain. Lovely hotel albeit it’s a bit dated and almost felt like it needs to be modernised. Our room, the poolside suite, was massive and has got a very ornate ensuite. Plenty of restaurants and dining options nearby as the hotel is located in the Langtree Avenue.
But what I liked the most is the Murray River - S mentioned that the best way to experience the waterway is to rent a houseboat for a week or so and just cruise around. Sounds like a great idea to me - I was imagining myself in a houseboat for weeks and writing my book :)

Dust storm turns day into night in town of Mildura | ABC News
An impressive dust storm at Mildura, in north-western Victoria, has turned day into night, with dramatic photos showing a huge red cloud sweeping through the area.
The storm was captured on a Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) webcam as it passed over Mildura Airport at about 5:00pm yesterday.
Visibility deteriorated as a huge red cloud appeared and rolled over the airport.
