Milford Carlow
The beautiful Milford in Co. Carlow
Milford is a pleasant stop on the River Barrow which was once the centre of a thriving milling industry. The mill at Milford was established in the 1790s and is one of the most extensive and celebrated in Ireland.
Electricity was generated from Milford in 1891, providing Carlow with the distinction of being the first inland town in Ireland and Britain to receive electric power. This idyllic setting features a woodland area, containing an aquatic triangle rich in wildlife with a diversity of plants, animals and habitats.

Well worth a visit. Photo paradise if you get the weather.

This estate in Carlow's horse racing country has come up for sale for the first time in almost 200 years. Milford House, set in 50 acres of wooded parkland at Milford, is a timeless Georgian which has been in the same family since it was built in 1820 by a family of millers who became successful businessmen. This beautiful spot on the banks of the River Barrow, five miles south of Carlow town, is on the market via Jordan Auctioneers in Newbridge, Co Kildare, and Knight Frank in Dublin and London...

Milford - Summer Day
In a less than ideal summer June was a lovely month and I was lucky enough to spend a few days on the River Barrow in County Carlow. Here at Milford I spent a few hours observing the flora and fauna and would love to share it with you. I hope you like it.
