Market for High-End, Luxury Rentals Growing in Minneapolis
No doubt you've seen cranes and construction across Minneapolis. With new pitches currently in the works for high-end luxury apartments in Minneapolis, we decided to take a closer to look at the market for renting those expensive units.
A Day at Mill City Museum
It's been way too long since I've added to this channel and for some reason I seem to have a growing subscriber list... so perhaps I should give you all something to watch.
Mill City Museum was a project I filmed originally for MSR Design to celebrate their 30th Anniversary. As one of their most iconic projects in Minneapolis, it is also home to their home office for this prestigious firm.
This piece was produced over 8 years ago, which may not seem like a long time, but many of these time lapse techniques were still pretty cutting edge for my own work.
The Minnesota Historical Society was also interested in the footage so it was eventually reworked into this visual narrative that showcases so many of the fantastic aspects of Mill City. Interactive exhibits for kids about water power, The Farmers Market, Weddings and events in the courtyard, and fantastic views are just a few of the amazing experiences that you can have here.

Farmers Are Now SITTING On Corn Harvest and Waiting to Get More Money
The most delayed U.S. corn harvest on record is resulting in chaos for traditional commodity trade routes.
Corn usually is harvested in the midwest, before it is sent south to be exported, according to Bloomberg. But because farmers in the east, hurt by a spring-time deluge, are holding back on supplies in hope of higher prices, the commodity's price has been pushed higher than the futures market in east - while it remains lower than the futures market in the west. It's a phenomenon known as basis arbitrage.
The result? Corn is now starting to be shipped over Chicago: from the west, to supply corn processors, ethanol plants or animal-feed makers in the east.
Dan Basse, president of consulting firm AgResource said: “Corn from the west going to east? It should happen at some point but it’s not the way the U.S. market is set up to transport. If basis is strong enough, we will get that pull into Ohio.”
Bowe said: “There’s still a lot of corn out there, that’s a thing that’s amazing and people forget. The problem has been that with the low flat price, the farmer has been reluctant to sell so there’s a lot of on-farm storage and farmers have corn tucked away, they just don’t want to sell at $3.50 a bushel.”

Spoonriver Restaurant & Bar
Spoonriver opened its doors in June 2006 in the revived Mill District of downtown Minneapolis. Located across the plaza from the stunning Tyrone Guthrie Theater, Spoonriver complements its dramatic neighbor and enhances a burgeoning neighborhood along the Mississippi River.
Serving delicious gourmet contemporary natural cuisine, Spoonriver, is the logical evolution of its accomplished owner, Brenda Langton, who has been committed to sustainably produced products and healthy eating for over three decades. Spoonriver's predecessors; Cafe Brenda and Cafe Kardamena, both award-winning Twin Cities institutions that were far ahead of the curve in serving local, organic, and vegetarian cuisine since 1978.
Spoonriver takes Langton's concept to new heights with its sleek, intimate dining room and bar where the restaurant's signature cocktails are served. The surrounding patio features views of the Stone Arch Bridge spanning the Mississippi, the Guthrie and Minneapolis skyline.
Another of Langton's inspirations is the Mill City Farmers' Market. Stretching along the Chicago Av. Plaza and continuing under the Mill City Museum Train Shed, it offers a wide variety of local, sustainable and organic products.

Maple Grove Indoor Farmers Market Opens
The end of the traditional growing season doesn't mean the end of fresh produce and local goods at the Maple Grove Farmers Market.
The popular outdoor market closed Oct. 23, took a week off, and now opens inside the Maple Grove Community Center for the first and third Thursdays in November and December.
In the winter and spring, the market will try something new when they open on the third Thursday in January, February and March.
Some vendors offer baked goods or prepared products, while other farmers extend the growing season by using greenhouses. Admission to the market is free.
