Mill on the Brue - a gold Green Tourism award winner | Powered by Ecotricity
We recently paid a visit to Mill on the Brue, an amazing activity centre in Somerset that has sustainability at its heart.
We paid them a visit to help launch our new partnership with Green Tourism, which aims to help the UK's tourism industry become more sustainable.
Global tourism is growing at a rate of 5% every year and is responsible for nearly one tenth of the world’s carbon emissions - with everything from air travel to poorly energy efficient accommodation and cheap souvenirs contributing to the significant emissions.
Through their partnership, Ecotricity and Green Tourism aim to clean up the UK’s tourist industry – focusing principally on tourist accommodation and attractions.
About Us
Green electricity didn't exist in the world back in 1996. When we offered it for the first time, we became not just Britain’s but the world’s first green electricity company – and we kick-started the now global green electricity movement. Our mission was and remains to change the way electricity is made and used in Britain.
We chose this focus because conventional electricity is responsible for 30% of Britain’s carbon emissions – it’s our biggest single source as a nation, and therefore the biggest single thing we can change.

The Dovecote Bruton - DJI Mavic Pro
This was actually some of my first aerial footage recorded and it was incredibly windy. The Drone was throwing errors all the time - either way it seemed a waste not to use my recordings so I have quickly chucked it together.
Cant wait to get some ND filters and play with the sittings on the Drone to product smoother footage.

Rural Death-Trap in Somerset Village
Almost all of this footage was taken on a weekday afternoon over a period of 10 minutes in the only safe place for a pedestrian to stand - The driveway of Marsh Villas on the hill between the blind bends in the hamlet of Lovington, Somerset.
The people of Lovington waited 10 years for someone in Taunton to deal with the problem of collisions and hundreds of near misses. Kerry Jones' department circulated the plans for a 30mph extension based on professional recommendations of outside experts.
Unfortunately, without any warning the plans were changed and we no longer have the extension.
These daily occurrences are just too dangerous to capture on video, but something happens here every day.
The final clip shows the latter half of an incident involving a young cyclist who had been overtaken on the same stretch by the white van and the HGV. However when the HGV came out of the blind bend the horses were in the road and the brakes panicked them.
Just by looking at this stretch of road and a two minute video, anyone can see that essential traffic management is required.

FLASH FLOOD TIME LAPSE DRONE FOOTAGE (3 HOURS IN 40 SECS)
The River Brue in Somerset, England, is known for regularly flooding the Somerset levels and other areas of one of England's largest counties. It was partly responsible for flooding over 13% of the county in 2007 and 12% in 2013. This footage is taken over just 3 hours, 5 miles from the source of the river, in one of the many famous rural towns in south-west England, Bruton. It also flows through Glastonbury and Street and flows out into the Atlantic.
The river was dammed in 1983 but still floods regularly, albeit on a much smaller scale but because of the narrow channels it is forced to go through in the towns and the tall levees in the countryside, it still causes lots of flooding further down river. The height of the river in certain areas can have a range of more than 10 metres, despite it only being 8 metres at it's widest and only 49 miles long.
