Soldier Settlement
Bill Rowe shares some memories of the Red Cliffs soldier settlement.
After WW1 hundreds of returned soldiers were relocated to Red Cliffs. Allocated blocks of Mallee scrub, with sometimes little or no farming background, many of these soldiers, some with post-traumatic stress disorder, were ill-equipped to deal with the arduous conditions of the area.

Ted Baillieu visits Mildura Part Two
Ted Baillieu somehow manages to make it to Mildura twice in a short time. On this visit he is interviewed live on ABC NEWS 24 about his 2 dollar and 4 cent investment into the local economy. Naturally Member for Mildura Peter Crisp is over the moon about this investment and doesn't seem to concerned about lack of funds to the TAFE system and Mildura's Private Hopsital amongst other pressing issues. This time he finally gets to wear his Mandarin costume which had been gathering dust since he last wore it at the Moomba parade of 1992. Ahhh 1992 the Kennett days

Barbed wire
Barbed wire, also known as barb wire, less often bob wire or, in the southeastern United States, bobbed wire), is a type of steel fencing wire constructed with sharp edges or points arranged at intervals along the strand(s). It is used to construct inexpensive fences and is used atop walls surrounding secured property. It is also a major feature of the fortifications in trench warfare (as a wire obstacle). A person or animal trying to pass through or over barbed wire will suffer discomfort and possibly injury. Barbed wire fencing requires only fence posts, wire, and fixing devices such as staples. It is simple to construct and quick to erect, even by an unskilled person.
