It's Day 3 of the 'Beast from the East' weather from Siberia hitting the UK hard with heavy snowfall and wind chill temperatures of -10c, disrupting travel throughout the week as snow flurries continued to fall onto the gritted roads in the coldest weather experienced for at least the past 5 years. On Day 3 we took a trip to one of Sheffield's Millhouses park to see what it was like in the midst of the 'Beast from the East'

Sheffield is a city in the English county of South Yorkshire. In the city centre, the Millennium Gallery shows metalwork and art from Sheffield and around the world. It adjoins the Winter Garden, a large temperate glasshouse filled with plants. Kelham Island Museum covers the city’s industrial heritage. The nearby countryside is part of Peak District National Park, characterised by moorland and rocky ridges.
Sheffield is a city and metropolitan borough in South Yorkshire, England. Historically part of the West Riding of Yorkshire, Sheffield name derives from the River Sheaf, which runs through the city. With some of its southern suburbs annexed from Derbyshire, the city of Sheffield has grown from its largely industrial roots to encompass a wider economic base.
In the 19th century, Sheffield gained an international reputation for steel production. Known as the Steel City, many innovations were developed locally, including crucible and stainless steel, fuelling an almost tenfold increase in the population in the Industrial Revolution. Sheffield received its municipal charter in 1843, becoming the City of Sheffield in 1893.
The city has a long sporting heritage, and is home to the world's oldest football club, Sheffield F.C. Games between the two professional clubs, Sheffield United and Sheffield Wednesday, are known as the Steel City derby. The city is also home to the World Snooker Championship.

UK - Tram/Train Ride, Rotherham to Sheffield, 16/5/2019
The South Yorkshire Supertram network is the first in the UK to test the running of street trams on the national rail network.
A service has recently commenced operation, running from the Parkgate Retail Centre in Rotherham to the Sheffield City Centre.
The service operates on the Network Rail mainline system for about 3 miles (5 km).

GRAVES PARK SHEFFIELD AMAZING DESTINATION FOR YOUR FREE TIME
Graves Park is a large parkland area in the South of Sheffield, between the districts of Norton, Woodseats and Meadowhead. The park was developed by Alderman J.G.Graves between 1926 and 1936, to protect the thousand year old woodland from building development. Mr Graves donated the 91.9 hectares park to the city.
The park is a mixture of open and woodland, with several streams flowing through it. There are three small lakes bordered by mature trees. To the northeast of the park is the animal farm, home of many rare breeds of cattle, pigs, chickens and donkeys.
Near the Charles Ashmore Road entrance are a practice golf course, two bowling greens and several hard tennis courts.
At the north side of the park (Derbyshire Lane entrance) there is a large open area which has 2 cricket pitches and around 10 football pitches. The football pitches are regularly used by the public, particularly on Sundays for the Sheffield and District Junior Sunday League.

Magnificent 7 2018 - Sheffield - Hill Climb Race
The Magnificent Seven is a unique cycling event, a cross between a sportive and a hill climb, that invites participants to face seven of Sheffield’s toughest hills.
The 2018 route, which is just over 26 miles long, presents each rider with over 4200ft of climbing, with inclines ranging from 9 to 23%.
Each of the seven climbs was subject to a full road closure, giving the competitors the unique chance to race up traffic-free closed roads, something only professional riders normally have the opportunity to do.
I put a camera on my helmet tor the first time today and recorded the race. The video resolution isn’t the best, but it’ll give you an idea of what the race looked like from within the veteran men and women's end of the peloton.
The people of Sheffield came out in numbers and made a lot of noise to cheer the riders on. Many thanks to them, the other riders, the team and volunteers running the event, and the sponsors for making this such a memorable day out on the bike.
