Milsons Point is a suburb on the lower North Shore of Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. The suburb is located 3 kilometres north of the Sydney central business district in the local government area of North Sydney Council.
Milsons Point is also the geographical feature that juts into Sydney Harbour from the northern side, directly opposite Sydney Cove, the spot where the first European settlement was established in 1788.
Milsons Point was named after James Milson (1783–1872), one of the earliest settlers.

Milsons Point, Sydney - April 2012
A visit to Milsons Point Station, filmed on a handheld mini-DVT recorder during our first visit to Sydney in April 2012. We initially see a ‘Tangara’ T-set heading northbound over Sydney Harbour Bridge with a North Shore service. Next, Mk4 S-Set Power car C3764 leads a southbound service over the bridge. The current Milsons Point Station was opened in 1932, when a new deviation from Waverton was built to allow North Shore trains to use the bridge. The original 1893 terminus of the North Shore line was located down by the water, allowing direct interchange with the ferry. Unfortunately, the station was located where the bridge pylon now stands so, in 1915, it station was closed to enable construction of the bridge to begin. A new station was built further back along the line at Lavender Bay, linked to the road by Australia’s first ever escalators! The station site is still used as a storage yard for electric trains, although there are apparently plans to turn the route into a 3.3km walking track called ‘The Highline’. We walked down towards the site of the original 1893 Milsons Point station and were rewarded with excellent views across Sydney Harbour towards Circular Quay and the Opera House, with the sound of trains rattling across the bridge overhead. The final shot shows one of the wonderful double ended Manly ferries setting of on yet another run to the seaside suburb.
