The Beauty of - Mimurotoji Temple, Japan!
Mimurotoji Temple
Mimurotoji (三室戸寺) is a temple in the northern hills of Uji City Kyoto Japan, founded about 1200 years ago. It is also known as the flower temple, as its wide temple grounds offer large gardens of some varieties of seasonal flowers. Visitors can view cherry blossoms here around early April, azalea around early May, hydrangea in June, lotuses around July and August, and autumn colors around late November.

Zen Garden at Mimurotoji Temple, Uji City, Kyoto Prefecture
Zen Garden at Mimurotoji Temple, is one of the beautiful gardens in Uji City temples. Unfortunately my trips to this garden did not coincide with proper seasons (either cherry blossom season or the autumn color season), but this video gives you a basic idea of how they would look in the right season.
The gardens cover multiple Japanese gardening styles. There is a rock and gravel garden (representing the Zen garden or karesansui style), walk through garden (representing gardens present in monk's quarters) and a large garden with small trees, shrubs and azaleas (representing Heian era style).
Hope you get a chance to visit this area during a representative season to enjoy their true beauty.

Koshoji Temple
Hey everyone, enjoy my first vlog from Japan, a short tour of the temple I visited a few weeks ago.
Koshoji is a Buddhist temple located in the center of Nagoya. This location is popular for weddings and I actually accidentally crashed a wedding reception. No one noticed, but it was still embarrassing.
Japan is interesting in that they regard religious traditions as art of the culture rather than part of a particular belief or faith. Because of this most people blend both religions into their lives. It is common to have a Shinto or Christian wedding and a Buddhist funeral.

[Japan] Uji - Byodo-in temple, Uji Shrines & matcha parfait
I visited the beautiful Byodo-in temple, crossed the river and carried on walking to the Uji Shrine and then to the Ujigami Shrine which was designated as the guardian of Byodo-in temple at the time.
I ended this day in Uji with a delicious matcha parfait with some warabi kinako mochi... :)

Byodoin Temple, Uji - Kyoto
Byodoin Temple (平等院, Byōdōin) is a striking example of Buddhist Pure Land (Jodo) architecture. Together with its garden, the temple represents the Pure Land Paradise and was influential on later temple construction. Byodoin was initially built in 998 as a countryside retreat villa for the powerful politician Fujiwara no Michinaga, not as a temple.
Michinaga's son turned Byodoin into a temple and ordered the construction of its most spectacular feature, the Phoenix Hall. Although the building was given another official name, almost immediately after its construction in 1053, it was nicknamed Hoodo (Phoenix Hall) because of its shape and the two phoenix statues on its roof. The hall is now featured on the back of the Japanese ten yen coin.

Mimuroto ji 三室戸寺 Magnificent Flower Display in Uji City, Kyoto!
At any time of the year Mimurotoji has spectacular floral displays, especially its azaleas, hydrangeas and lotus blossoms, which is why it is known as the 'Flower Temple.' Situated on Mt. Myojo above the rapids of the Uji River, the beautifully manicured gardens cascade down the hillside to the river. The temple has long been associated with the literary world of the Heian era because parts of the Tale of Genji are situated in Uji. It is even said that this is where the fictional character Ukifune is buried!
