Real Min Min light sighting in Australia
While many proclaim to have seen the light, Ted Baines has in fact seen it ... twice. The first was an encounter at Gurley Station in 1952 but it was nothing like the one he saw 40 years later. It was the night he was chased by a Paddy's Lantern.

Min Min is an unusual light phenomenon that has often been reported in outback Australia. Stories about the lights can be found in Aboriginal myths and Australian folklore, but what are they?
Australien Skies 3: Search for the Min Min
Follow filmmaker Don Meers on a paranormal road trip across the sunburnt landscapes of the Australian outback in hopes of solving one of Australia’s greatest mysteries: the Min Min light.
For well over a hundred years, reports and stories have been told around campfires and passed down the generations of an elusive ghostly light that haunts the regional parts of Australia. Usually sighted at night, this mysterious anomaly has been known to display incredible speed and luminance and an eerie intelligence, often following travelers for hours on end. There has been a lot of speculation as to what these light phenomena could be: scientific, spiritual, even extraterrestrial. In spite of plenty of reports of people chasing after — or being chased by — the Min Min, no one has successfully captured one...yet.

The Min Min Lights - Australian Mystery
More info and newspaper scans on Min Min Lights:
The Min Min Light is an unusual light phenomenon that has often been reported in outback Australia. Many associate The Min Min with the Australian UFO phenomena.
Accounts of the light appearances vary, though they are most commonly described as being fuzzy, disc-shaped lights that appear to hover just above the horizon. They are often described as being white, though some accounts describe them as changing colour from white to red to green and back again. Some accounts describe them as being dim, others describe them as being bright enough to illuminate the ground under them and to cause nearby objects to throw clearly defined shadows.
Some witnesses describe the light as appearing to approach them several times before retreating. Others report that the lights were able to keep pace with them when they were in a moving motor vehicle.
The name Min Min derives from the small settlement of Min Min, located between the outback towns of Boulia and Winton in Queensland, Australia. This is where the light was observed by a stockman in 1918.
Stories about the lights can be found in Aboriginal myths pre-dating European settlement and have since become part of wider Australian folklore.
Indigenous Australians hold that the number of sightings has increased alongside the increasing ingression of Europeans into the outback. QUFOSR has spoken to several Aboriginal Australians about their encounters with these lights and we will present a video in the future.
According to folklore, the lights sometimes follow or approached people and have disappeared, sometimes very rapidly, when fired upon, only to reappear later on. The first recorded sighting dates to 1838, in the book Six Months in South Australia.
