Bagan Myanmar Part 1 VLOG # 2

Bagan Myanmar by bus is about 10 hours away from Yangon. Bagan is an ancient city in central Myanmar (formerly Burma), southwest of Mandalay. Standing on the eastern banks of the Ayeyarwady River, it’s known for the Bagan Archaeological Area, where more than 2,000 Buddhist monuments tower over green plains. Holy sites around Old Bagan include ornate Ananda Temple, built in 1091 and topped with a golden stupa. Nearby is the vast 12th-century Dhammayangyi Temple.

Disclaimer. We mentioned that the stupas were closed due to the 2018 earthquake. We stand corrected, the 6.8 magnitude earthquake happened in 2016 which damaged a lot of stupas and temples. Although another 6.0 magnitude earthquake followed in January 2018 which altogether resulted in closing of some of the stupas to the public.

We went to the temple in the evening and did see how the monks stand up one by one, make the long procession at sunset to the pray hall and parts of their meditation.
