Tokyo's Secret Island Paradise | AOGASHIMA ★ ONLY in JAPAN
Jurassic Park may be the first thing that comes to mind when you see Aogashima Island from the air - but yes, THIS IS TOKYO!
It's famous for having a volcano inside a volcano surrounded by dense jungle. It's also considered the smallest town in Japan and the hardest place in Japan to get to. There is no direct transportation to Aogashima. These facts are what make Aogashima the best kept secret in Tokyo!
★ The Ogasawara video is out!
Travel 1000km further for Tokyo's distant island paradise!
The island is unspoiled.
The pristine jungles and beautiful ocean views are like scenes from the movies.
HOW TO GET TO AOGASHIMA
Air
▶︎ Haneda Airport (Tokyo) to Hachijojima / 50 minutes
▶︎ Helicopter to Aogashima - 20 minutes / 11,530 Yen
Note: You have to take the first flight to catch the helicopter or spend the night. Only 1 helicopter flight per day.
Sea (Ferry)
▶︎ Takeshiba Pier (Tokyo) to Hachijojima 11-12 hours / Tokai Kisen Line /
▶︎ Hachijojima to Aogashima / 3 hours / Izu Shoto Kaihatsu Line
Note: The ferry to Aogashima is often canceled so don't rely on this if you need to be back to Tokyo for a flight etc. It can be delayed for as long as 1 week depending on weather!
WHY IS THIS THE HARDEST PLACE TO GET TO?
The town is located 200 meters up off the sea. There is no airport and this island is only accessible by helicopter and ferry. The port is one of the most challenging to dock at in the world so when the sea is rough or the wind is too strong, ferries are often canceled. Visitors may be stranded here for a week or more if the weather turns bad.
MUST SEE PLACES on AOGASHIMA
★ Ao-Chu Shochu distillery
★ Aogashima heliport
★ The volcanic island steamer (for lunch)
★ The island sauna
★ Oyamatenbo Park (Observation Area) for the view over the crater and the sky at night
★ Aogashima Port
★ Maruyama & Shrine
FOOD TO TRY
★ Torinabe (Chicken Soup Pot)
★ Ashitaba (an island leaf / herb that's used in cooking)
★ Island fish in season
Note: you can ask your inn about trying these at scheduled meals
THINGS TO NOTE ABOUT VISITING AOGASHIMA
1) You must have a reservation to stay somewhere before arriving. Lodging is limited. Call ahead, even for camping.
2) There is an ATM at the post office but come with cash just in case
3) Helicopters are often sold out a month in advance. Ferry tickets are easy to get but your departure date may not be convenient.
4) Walking is possible everywhere but many tourists rent a car. Other tourists may pick you up if you hitchhike. It takes 80 minutes to walk from the heliport to Aogashima pier.

Japan Trip 2013 Tokyo Akihabara Station Night view ElectricTown exit Trains run of Yamanote Line 24
Yamanote Line
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Yamanote Line (山手線 Yamanote-sen) is railway loop line in Tokyo, Japan, operated by East Japan Railway Company (JR East). It is one of Tokyo's busiest and most important lines, connecting most of Tokyo's major stations and urban centres, including the Yūrakuchō/Ginza area, Shibuya, Shinjuku, and Ikebukuro, with all but two of its 29 stations connecting to other railway or underground (subway) lines.
The Yamanote Line as an official line name indicates the tracks between Shinagawa and Tabata that is used by local trains on their own tracks as well as the parallel Yamanote Freight Line which is used by Saikyō Line and Shōnan-Shinjuku Line trains, some limited express services, and freight trains. However, in everyday usage the Yamanote Line refers to the entire 34.5 km loop line served by local trains. (This article uses the same definition.)
Akihabara
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Akihabara (Japanese: 秋葉原), also known as Akihabara Electric Town (Japanese: 秋葉原電気街 Hepburn: Akihabara Denki Gai), is a district of Tokyo, Japan. It is located less than five minutes by rail from Tokyo Station. Its name is frequently shortened to Akiba (アキバ) in Japan. While there is an official locality named Akibahara, which is also 秋葉原 in kanji, nearby (as part of Taitō-ku), the area known to most people as Akihabara (including the railway station of the same name) also include Soto-Kanda, a part of Chiyoda-ku.
Akihabara is a major shopping area for electronic, computer, anime, games and otaku goods, including new and used items. New items are mostly to be found on the main street, Chūōdōri, with many kinds of used items found in the back streets of Soto Kanda 3-chōme. New parts for PC-building are readily available from a variety of stores. Tools, electrical parts, wires, microsized cameras and similar items are found in the cramped passageways of Soto Kanda 1-chōme (near the station). Foreign tourists tend to visit the big name shops like Laox or other speciality shops near the station, though there is more variety and lower prices at locales a little further away. Akihabara gained some fame through being home to one of the first stores devoted to personal robots and robotics.
The area was just out of Sujikai-gomon city gate (present Mansei bridge) which was one of the city gates (Mitsuke) of old Edo (Tokyo). It was the gateway from inner Edo to northern and northwestern Japan and Kan'ei-ji temple in Ueno. Many dealers, craftsmen and relatively lower class samurai lived there.
Akihabara Station
Akihabara Station (秋葉原駅 Akihabara-eki) is a railway station located in Tokyo's Chiyoda ward. It is at the center of the famous Akihabara shopping district specializing in electronic goods.

The mysterious sound in the Mariana Trench
In 2014, scientists first heard a unique sound coming from the waters around the Mariana Trench. Experts weren't sure what it was, but now a team of researchers led by Oregon State University have published a study in the Journal of the Acoustical Society of America that suggests the alien-like sound could be a new call from a baleen whale.

Korea under Japanese rule
Listening is a more natural way of learning, when compared to reading. Written language only began at around 3200 BC, but spoken language has existed long ago.
Learning by listening is a great way to:
- increases imagination and understanding
- improves your listening skills
- improves your own spoken accent
- learn while on the move
- reduce eye strain
Now learn the vast amount of general knowledge available on Wikipedia through audio (audio article). You could even learn subconsciously by playing the audio while you are sleeping! If you are planning to listen a lot, you could try using a bone conduction headphone, or a standard speaker instead of an earphone.

SUMMARY
=======
Korea under Japanese rule began with the end of the short-lived Korean Empire in 1910 and ended at the conclusion of World War II in 1945. Japanese rule over Korea was the outcome of a process that began with the Japan–Korea Treaty of 1876, whereby a complex coalition of the Meiji government, military, and business officials sought to integrate Korea both politically and economically into the Empire of Japan. A major stepping-stone towards the Japanese occupation of Korea was the Japan–Korea Treaty of 1905, in which the then-Korean Empire was declared a protectorate of Japan. The annexation of Korea by Japan was set up in the Japan–Korea Treaty of 1910, which was never actually signed by the Korean Regent, Gojong.Japanese rule over Korea ended in 1945, when U.S. and Soviet forces captured the peninsula. In 1965 the unequal treaties between Joseon-ruled Korea and Imperial Japan, especially those of 1905 and 1910, were declared already null and void at the time of their promulgation (i.e. dead on arrival, implicitly a declaration of their illegality) by the Treaty on Basic Relations between Japan and the Republic of Korea.Japanese administration of the Korean Peninsula was directed through the General Government. After the Japanese withdrawal from the Korean Peninsula followed by the Japanese surrender to Allied forces at the end of the Second World War, Korea returned to self-government, albeit under two separate governments and economic systems backed (in the north) by the Soviet Union and (in the south) by the United States.
The industrialization of the Korean Peninsula began with the Joseon dynasty (in particular with King, and later Emperor, Gojong) while Korea was still independent but accelerated under Japanese occupation. The manner of the acceleration of industrialization under Japanese occupation, especially the use of industrialization solely for the purposes of benefiting Japan, the exploitation of the Korean people in their own country, the marginalization of Korean history and culture, the environmental exploitation of the Korean Peninsula, and its long-term negative repercussions for modern-day North and South Koreas are among the most provocative aspects of the controversy.

仙台9.0/Sendai 9.0 Rap (Tribute to Tohoku Earthquake/Tsunami - 東北地方太平洋沖地震)
Instrumental: Kenji by Fort Minor a.k.a Mike Shinoda of Linkin Park
I'm a Japanese living in London and was devastated about what happened in my home country. I made this rap as a tribute/in memory of those who have suffered from this terrible tragedy. Please pray for Japan!
Lyrics:
Friday 11th is the new 13th
Mother Nature decided to show its teeth
Japan was shaken, then drowned beneath
Double disaster, no time for relief
Leaving grief and damage for all to see
As lives and the land were consumed by the sea
Tsunami we call it, you can't outrun it
Once you're hit thats it
At 14.46 the quake hit Sendai
The people run and cry, victims sent to die
A cruel execution by the powers of Nature
Consumed by the Ring of Fire
A wall of water swept over the land
Eating up anything from building to man
Remember 1.17 and 3.11
The spirits looking from heaven
At their nation, bullied by the elements
Disasters that are challenging science
Now we turn to 我慢 (endurance) and collective defiance
International alliance
The land shook like pushing dominoes
People stopped and their bodies just froze
Then the tsunami came, and they were washed away
Never again to see the light of day
Meanwhile the world was in shock
The bad news kept coming, it wouldn't stop
Images of people stuck on the rooftop
Whilst Japanese abroad were dumbstruck
Struck by fear and concern
Watching the TV only to learn
That Kesennuma had started to burn
Black skies, a tragic nocturne
Fukushima 1, Fukushima 2
Problems arose when their reactors didnt cool
1 exploded and it caused mighty panic
They had to evacuate the public
There are people who can't go home
Some don't even have access to a phone
In a country that is so earthquake-prone
Its hard not to feel so alone
It's a popular topic search
The population is feeling the worst
Dangerous gases continue to disperse
If only time could reverse
They need all the help they can get
The Rising Sun has become a Sunset
It would be easy to press 'reset'
But this is a day we won't forget
The road to recovery wont be easy
To repair the damage and heal the agony
Reunite families, fix society
One big community
Haiti, Chile, China
New Zealand, Brazil and Indonesia
These countries have experienced the pain
We wish this never happens again
My granny, she sent me a message
She was afraid of the possible damage
The house started shaking from out of nowhere
She was thrown from her chair
生まれて初めて怖い目にあった (For the first time in my life I was truly scared)
生きた気持ちがしなかった (I didn't have the feeling that I was alive)
余震大小続いていく (large and small aftershocks still go on)
やっぱりまだショック (As I thought, I'm still in shock)
These words, they made me shiver
All I could do was follow news from Twitter
If God had made the world in 7 days
He obviously made some mistakes
From earthquakes to tsunamis
Big enough to send out your army
To scout and help the search party
And its all such a costly fee
The skies are filled with empty screams
The internet's filled with videostreams
People are praying down on their knees
Everyone sharing stories
Please take time to sit and pray
For those who were involved on that terrible Friday
Please pray for the 行方不明 (the unnaccounted for)
I pray they return one day
Please support the Tohoku region
Please think of all the little children
がんばれ日本!!! 諦めないで!!! (Stand firm Japan!!! Don't give up!!!)
不安に負けないで!!! (Don't get beaten by anxiety!!!)
一歩一歩前へ進んで (Advance forwards step by step)
立ち上げて!!! 世界が応援してるぜ!!! (Start up again! The world is supporting you!!!)
Everything's gonna be OK
