When your in Cherokee or Maggie Valley, North Carolina visting these waterfalls is something to do. Finding them is sometimes not easy, but with some research they can be found. This one has a few steps to climb, but is relatively an easy hike. There is plenty of viewing to be had once at the bottom of the falls, and it appears there may be some alternate trails that are not clearly marked.

Mingo Falls and Upper Mingo Falls - Qualla Boundary, NC
A short hike at the end of the day to Mingo Falls in the Qualla Boundary of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians. This beautiful waterfall is located just outside of the national park and is an easy hike for everyone. First I took an unmarked side trail at the top of the stairs to the little-known Upper Mingo Falls. The steep trail climbs towards the brink of Mingo Falls then scrambles over rock outcrops. Upper Mingo Falls is a double-drop but only the upper ~20 foot drop is accessible without a dirty scramble. Then I returned to the main trail which ends at a bridge below the 150+ foot Mingo Falls. With the recent rain and snow the scene was spectacular.
Hike was 1 mile with 640 feet elevation gain in 45 minutes.

If you are coming from Maggie Valley, or the Blue Ridge Parkway there is a dangerous blind curve that you will have to navigate. It is best to continue and then turn around a mile or so on the other side and then come in to turn right off of the road. This place can get pretty busy at times and there is very little parking.
