Simpler Times Lager The Spit or Swallow Beer Review
Simpler Times Lager
Brewed by: Minhas Craft Brewery Wisconsin, United States
There are times when an ice-cold beer fits the bill. This is an easy-drinking brew that's reliably tasty without being fussy. It's a straightforward beer with good hop flavor without it being over the top. This speaks of a simpler time when you could order a beer, and they wouldn't bring you a full menu. They'd just bring a good beer at a good price. Life can be complicated, but your beer does not have to be. Enjoy the taste of Simpler Times.

The Joseph Huber Brewing Company was founded in 1845 in Monroe, Wisconsin. It was originally called The Blumer Brewery, but in 1947 adopted its current name. It is the oldest continually operating brewery in the Midwest and second oldest in the United States.
On September 20, 2006, Mountain Crest Brewing Co. of Calgary, Alberta, Canada, announced an agreement to purchase The Joseph Huber Brewing Company, the Huber and Rhinelander brands of beer, and the Blumers brand of soda. Berghoff beer, Huber's most popular label, will be produced by a new company called Berghoff Brewing Co., which will contract with Mountain Crest to brew the beer at the Monroe plant. The brewery was renamed Minhas Craft Brewery, and will also continue to produce Berghoff's root beer, which is sold in traditional glass bottles in the Midwestern United States.
The Berghoff Cafe and Tavern on Adams Street just off State Street in downtown Chicago, Illinois, and namesake of the line of beers, is a popular German restaurant in the Loop with a location at Chicago O'Hare International Airport.

Name Tag Classic Lager - The Spit or Swallow Beer Review
Shagdog & Jammer have their Name Tags, how about you?
Name Tag Classic Lager (Also known as Red Oval Classic Lager)
Brewed by: Minhas Craft Brewery Wisconsin, United States
True to the lager tradition, Name Tag Lager is light-bodied and full-flavored. Unlike some other inexpensive lagers, Name Tag, brewed for us in Wisconsin, is an all-malt beer, with no rice, no corn -- no fillers of any kind. We were so impressed by the value of this beer (value = quality + price) that we put our name on it. Well, we put our name tag on it, anyway. Keep a six-pack of Name Tag in the fridge for those hotter-than-Hades days, when the only thing that will bring refreshment is an icy cold beer with your name on it.

The Brewery in Monroe has been owned over the last 160 years by some of the most prominent citizens of the area. They were 1st or 2nd generation immigrants, tracing their origins from Switzerland, France, Britain, Germany and Denmark.

He founded the Brewery at its present site. At the time, it was a winter operation consisting of a Brew Kettle and could only make a few hundred barrels per year.

1977 - 1985 Fred Huber (Born December 22, 1931, Died January 7, 2002)
It is fair to say that Fred Huber is one of the main reasons there is still a Brewery in Monroe and that it did not shut down like the hundreds of Breweries that closed down in the 1970s and 80s across America. Fred Huber was a promoter, a visionary, a maverick entrepreneur and a rescuer of several now defunct breweries and beer brands.
He helped create the Augsburger brand and recipe, the first craft super premium beer in the US. Sam Adams and other craft brews came years later.
He aggressively marketed the Augsburger brand, with the radio ads featuring the legendary brewmaster Hans Kestler and the now famous line Drink A Little Beer.
He resurrected and introduced Berghoff Beer in bottles and sold it in 30 states.
He rescued beer brands from various now defunct breweries such as Potosi Brewery of Potosi WI, Peter Hand Brewery of Chicago, IL and Rhinelander Brewery of Rhinelander, WI. He was the first to export beer from the Brewery to Brazil, France, Russia, Nicaragua, Panama, Japan, China, UK and many other countries.
In 1985. Fred Huber stunned everybody in the community and the industry when he sold the Brewery to Bill Smith, the former President of Pabst Brewery and Craig Werle, another senior Pabst executive. However, this would not end his involvement with the Brewery. He would purchase the Brewery back in 1989 and run it for another 5 years till 1994.
1985 - 1989 Bill Smith and Craig Werle (MTX Inc.)
In 1988, Smith and Werle stunned the community and the industry by selling the Augsburger brand to Stroh Brewing Company, than one of the 5 largest Brewing companies in the USA. With the sale of Augsburger, the Brewery lost 60% of its volume. Smith and Werle announced their intention to close the Brewery. Interestingly, Stroh merged with Pabst in a few years and to this day, the Augsburger brand is owned by Pabst Brewing Company.
1989 - 1994 Fred Huber
1994 - 2006 Dan Weinstein and Family
The Minhas Family purchased 100% interest in the Brewery on October 3, 2006 and changed the name of the Brewery to Minhas Craft Brewery.
WI Brewing on How to Build for Success
When veteran craft brewer Kirby Nelson and his partners founded Wisconsin Brewing Company in 2011, they planned for sustained growth that would make them a major player well into the future. Two principles guided the selection of the equipment for the brewery: choose quality and buy local. Their pump of choice: Fristam Pumps.

Founded in 1852 by Gabriel Hail and John Albrecht, the Potosi Brewery began as a small brewery quenching the thirsts of area farmers, fishermen and miners. In 1886 Adam Schumacher bought the brewery and started brewing beer. In 1906, the Potosi Brewing Company was founded by Adam and his brothers Nicholas and Henry. At its peak, the Potosi Brewery had grown to be the fifth largest in Wisconsin, shipping a variety of labels including Good Old Potosi, Holiday, Garten Brau, Augsburger and others to destinations throughout the United States. In 1972 the brewery ceased operations and closed its doors.
The restoration of the Potosi Brewery began in 1995 when Gary David bought the ruined Potosi Brewery Bottling buildings. This nearly one square block of buildings had just suffered a major fire and most of the buildings were a total loss. After working three years to rebuild parts of what had been destroyed, Gary then turned his attention to the Brewery itself.Being awarded the high bid at the county auction he then enlisted the help of his friend Rick Tobin and cousin Denis David. It was the marketing genius of Denis and his wife Madonna in 1999 that brought the public on board through a community meeting. This meeting was overwhelmingly attended by the public and brought forth numerous suggestions as well as additional support. It was this gathering of the public that led to the formation of the Potosi Brewery Foundation in February of 2000.
In 2004, with restoration underway, the Potosi Brewery Foundation was selected by the American Breweriana Association to be the home to its national museum. According to Len Chylack, president of the American Breweriana Association, Potosi was selected over cities such as Milwaukee and St. Louis because of their passion for beer, brewery history and beer-making culture.
The National Brewery Museum is a world-class facility dedicated to preserving the artifacts and memories of America's breweries.
In January of 2001 the Potosi Brewery building was donated to the Potosi Brewery Foundation, and the brewery property was officially transferred. Following a $7.5 million restoration, the Potosi Brewery Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and sole owner of the Potosi Brewing Company, reopened the brewery in 2008.
Potosi Brewery's mission is to channel all profits into its markets served to support historical and educational initiatives, and charitable causes.
