A mini Angkor Wat in Thailand's far western province of Kanchanaburi - Muang Singh Historical Park
One of the most fun and easiest ways to travel in Kanchanaburi is by train. The railway goes through picturesque landscapes and links several attractions, including Muang Singh Historical Park which is less than an hour and a half from the River Kwae Bridge station right in town. Muang Singh marked the western border of the Khmer kingdom in Thailand. It shows that when the kingdom was at the highest point of its power, it stretched far to the west, as far as to what would be Kanchanaburi today.

Thailand Cambodia Border Crossing Bus from Bangkok to Siem Reap
Off to Cambodia! Method of Travel: Bus! Come along as I travel from Bangkok, Thailand to Siem Reap, Cambodia, taking a direct bus that escorts you through the border at Aranyaprathet/Poipet.
Book your next bus trip to and from Cambodia with BOOKMEBUS (
I show you the way through the immigration and visa offices without getting scammed and share some tips to avoid a thorny situation with a tuk tuk driver when you arrive at Siem Reap. Also, I meet some viewers who happened to be on the same bus as me!
Some tips:
-BRING YOUR PASSPORT and an extra passport photo for your visa application.
-Make sure you are carrying enough cash to make it through the visa office ($30 USD + some extra USD or Thai baht for other fees you might get charged.
-The company I used was The Transport Co. Ltd.
-Don't get sidetracked. Go directly to the official border offices and be aware of scams.
-Bring extra snacks and water for the ride (the only stop was at the border).
-Know where your accommodations are located in Siem Reap and avoid taking a complimentary tuk tuk to your hotel/hostel if it's walking distance.

Model of Angkor Wat Cambodia Temple at Royal Palace in Bangkok, Thailand
Angkor Wat Model at Wat Phra Kaew in Grand Palace Bangkok 1
The Angkorian Empire in the 9th century was the premiere empire of Indochina and the mini states of thailand were it's vassals then but in the 13th century, the Ayuthaya Empire supplanted the Angkorian Empire as the Premiere Empire of Indo China and the Siem Reap (the Thai Name of Siem Reap Province was Siam Nakhon Province) and Battambang Provinces of Cambodia was part of Thailand from the 14th century up to the early 19th century, as they gave up possesion of half of cambodia to the french in the early 19th century as a condtion of the British not to fight with the french for the Indo chinese lands in 1907 and the angkor wat model was commisioned by the chakri king Rama IV as part of the glory of Thai Rule then. The Angkor Wat Model is located at the middle of the many monuments erected at the Wat Phra Kew part of the Grand Palace Complex.

You Haven't Seen Thailand Until You Visit the GRAND PALACE in Bangkok
Visiting the Grand Palace in Bangkok is a must when you travel to Thailand. Not only do you get to see the palace itself, but you also see the more stunning (in my opinion) miniature Angkor Wat, Golden Chedis, Temple of the Emerald Buddha (Wat Phra Kaew), and Phra Si Rattana Chedi. While the cost of a ticket to the Grand Palace is a bit pricey at 500 baht per person, it's well worth it and also comes with free admision to a traditional Thai masked dance khon performance at the nearby Sala Chalermkrung Royal Theatre. Just don't forget that the dress code is strictly long pants for all genders. If you forget your pants, buy them across the street from the entrance to save yourself some money.

Epic Train Ride From Bangkok, Thailand To Cambodia!
Want to experience one of the best train rides ever? Check out our journey from Bangkok, Thailand to the Cambodian border in the video here:
This video is a throwback from December of 2012. We wanted to know how to travel Thailand in a spectacular way. We heard bus was the best way for the journey. Although, when going to the Cambodian border, we heard that travel by train was the most spectacular option. Our schedule made us book our trip way too early in the morning. We enjoyed our coffee at the train station. Then we boarded our train only to find that the fan was not working. We had our doubts about traveling by train. The train departed the station just before dawn. Fortunately, the fans worked once the train moved. As the sunrise began, we learned very fast how epic this train ride would be. We took in the countryside views. We also enjoyed accompanying the locals on the train and watching their routines. After taking in the view for a while, I began to explore this massive machine. I walked in between cars and hung outside of doorways. None of this was very safe. Although, I tried to be as safe as I could be as I took in the memories. Looking back on this ride, it became almost more memorable than the destinations themselves! We also highly recommend traveling by train on this route for your own journey!
