This Farm of the Future Uses No Soil and 95% Less Water
Watch the next episode about San Francisco becoming a zero waste city:
As urban populations continue to rise, innovators are looking beyond traditional farming as a way to feed everyone while having less impact on our land and water resources. Vertical farming is one solution that's been implemented around the world. Vertical farms produce crops in stacked layers, often in controlled environments such as those built by AeroFarms in Newark, New Jersey. AeroFarms grows a variety of leafy salad greens using a process called aeroponics, which relies on air and mist. AeroFarms' crops are grown entirely indoors using a reusable cloth medium made from recycled plastics. In the absence of sun exposure, the company uses LED lights that expose plants to only certain types of spectrum. AeroFarms claims it uses 95% less water than a traditional farm thanks to its specially designed root misting system. And it is now building out a new 70,000 square foot facility in a former steel mill. Once completed, it's expected to grow 2 million pounds of greens per year, making it the largest indoor vertical farm in the world.

Zahi Shaked A tour guide in Israel and his camera zahigo25@walla.com +972-54-6905522 tel סיור עם מורה הדרך ומדריך הטיולים צחי שקד 0546905522
My name is Zahi Shaked
In 2000 I became a registered liscenced tourist guide.
My dedication in life is to pass on the ancient history of the Holy Land.
Following upon many years of travel around the world, which was highlighted by a very exciting emotional and soul-searching meeting with the Dalai Lama, I realized that I had a mission. To pass on the the history of the Holy Land, its religions, and in particular, the birth and development of Christianity.
In order to fulfill this calling in the best way possible, I studied in depth, visited, and personally experienced each and every important site of the ancient Christians. I studied for and received my first bachelors degree in the ancient history of the Holy Land, and am presently completing my studies for my second degree.(Masters)
Parralel to my studies, and in order to earn a living, I was employed for many years in advertising. What I learned there was how to attract the publics attention, generate and, increase interest, and assimilate information. All this I use as tools to describe, explain and deepen the interest in the sites that we visit. From my experience, I have learned that in this way, the Holy Land becomes more than just history, and that the large stones that we see scattered about in dissaray, join together one by one until they become - a Byzantine Church. This also happens when I lead a group of Pilgrims in the Steps of Jesus. We climb to the peak of Mount Precipice, glide over the land to the Sea of Galilee, land on the water and see the miracle which enfolds before us. This is a many faceted experience. Not only history which you will remember and cherish, but an experience which I hope will be inplanted in your hearts and minds, and will accompany you all the days of your life.

Bodh Gaya: Center of the Buddhist World | Documentary
Bodhgaya is the ultimate land of enlightenment. The very place which saw the advent of Buddhism and where Lord Buddha got his enlightenment. Attracting thousands of tourists all across the world, this small town in the Gay district of Bihar is a major pilgrimage for the Buddhists.
The Mahabodhi temple is a UNESCO world heritage site, where the temple complex also has the sacred Bodhi tree (the same tree under which Lord Buddha got his enlightenment) still steadfast and green.
The Pyramidal shaped main temple is an exquisite example of Gupta architecture. There are several other monasteries boasting of its splendid art and architecture. The statues of Buddha in several monasteries date back to an unbelievable 200 or 100 years.
The giant Buddha statue is yet another eye capturing structure to see. Built-in white this 80 feet Buddha statue leaves the tourists awestruck.
The winsome smile of the Buddhists monks, their rhythmic prayers and exchanging, spreads tranquility to the place.
Bodhgaya is a beauty on its own, a place well preserved to witness history and the beginning of a new religion. The small stalls in the area sell souvenirs like laughing Buddha, gongs, bells as mementos. The best part is that being an international tourist destination, Bodhgaya offers you worldwide cuisines to relish. Some good news for the foodies out here!
This description won't satiate your desire to know more about this wonderful land in India. So visit once to see it with your own eyes.

The Cannibal Generals of Liberia
Full length now on YouTube:
Cannibalism, murder and rape are just a part of everyday life in certain regions of Liberia. Despite the United Nation's eventual intervention, most of this country's young people continue to live in abject poverty, surrounded by filth, drug addiction, and teenage prostitution. In 2009, we went to Liberia to rummage through the messy remains of a country ravaged by 14 years of civil war.
UPDATE: Charles G. Taylor, former President of Liberia and warlord, has been convicted by an international tribunal of war crimes and crimes against humanity, including rape, murder, and the use of child soldiers. He is the first head of state to be found guilty by an international court since the Nuremberg trials.

Impeachment trial of President Trump | Jan. 29, 2020 (FULL LIVE STREAM)
House impeachment managers and President Trump’s lawyers have concluded their opening arguments in the Senate. The impeachment trial moves into the question period for both sides on Jan. 29, when senators submit questions in writing to Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr. The chief justice will read questions out loud, alternating between the majority and minority for up to eight hours.
Trump was impeached by the House of Representatives in December for abuse of power and obstruction of Congress. Impeachment does not mean that the president has been removed from office. In the next phase, the Senate must hold a trial to make that determination. A Senate impeachment trial has happened only two other times in American history and once in the modern era. At the center of the Democrats’ case is that Trump sought to withhold military assistance and an Oval Office meeting until Ukraine announced investigations into former vice president Joe Biden and his son.

9. SOUNDBITE: (English) Ozcan Tikit, foreign policy analyst:
Turkey has a huge population, has a huge affect. And in this area, in this region, is one of the major players. So, whenever the Israelis would like to protect their interests, they will see an aggression and afterwards, they will see a Turkish state who would like to sabotage it.

16. Wide of people walking in Taksim
STORYLINE:
Turkey expelled Israel''s ambassador and will cut military ties with the country over its refusal to apologise for last year''s deadly raid on a Gaza-bound aid flotilla, officials said on Friday, further straining a relationship which had been a cornerstone of regional stability.
Turkey''s move came before the anticipated publication on Friday of a United Nations report about the Israeli raid, which killed nine activists.
The breakdown in ties also raised concerns that other countries, including Egypt and Jordan, may follow suit by recalling ambassadors and increase Israel''s alienation in the region.
Relations between Turkey and Israel were once close.
Turkey had mediated several rounds of indirect negotiations between Israel and Syria in 2008, but the talks made no significant headway and were suspended following the Israeli military offensive in Gaza the following year.
Ties have soured further in recent years and deteriorated sharply after the flotilla bloodshed on May 31, 2010.
The Israeli ambassador''s expulsion is the most significant downgrading in ties between the two countries.
Foreign policy analyst Ozcan Tikit predicted that relations between the two countries would only get worse.
This is the turning point between Turkey and Israeli relations. Israel has lost one of its unique friends in the region and in the Islamic world, said Tikit.
Residents of Istanbul echoed these sentiments, appearing to support their government''s action.
Cafe owner, Recep Cavusoglu, warned that Israel is close to losing its only ally in the region.
In my opinion, Israel''s only friend and ally is Turkey. If they lose us as well, they will inch closer to isolation in the region, he said.
The Turkish decision increases Israel''s isolation at a sensitive time.
Israel faces turmoil in ties with another established regional ally, Egypt, where long-time leader Hosni Mubarak was deposed earlier this year and where there have been growing calls to revoke the three-decade-old Egypt-Israel peace agreement.

The Camels of Arabia: A Day at the King Abdulaziz Camel Festival
Camels are the Clydesdales of Saudi Arabia, venerated for their good looks, grace, and speed. Even as the country rapidly modernizes, the animals remain a central part of Saudi culture, and a lucrative one—with prized camels selling for more than $1 million.
VICE trekked to Al-Dahna for the King Abdulaziz Camel Festival—the largest of its kind—where titans of business and politics in the Middle East flock each year for a display of the finest camels in Saudi Arabia.
Hundreds of participants pit their camels head-to-head in a frenzied race and beauty contest for a chance to win roughly $57 million in prize money, and a chance to meet Saudi Arabia's king and crown prince.
