Walking around Dundee, Nethergate, High Street and Murraygate

A walk along the High Street and Murraygate in Dundee City Centre, passing by landmarks including the Steeple Church, the Caird Hall and the Desperate Dan Statue.

Starting at the junction between Nethergate and West Marketgait at the corner the Overgate Shoping Centre, we head east passing the Steeple Church and St Mary’s Church where the street continues as High Street.


From there we walk around the City Square and take a look at the architecturally beautiful Caird Hall. From here we head back on to the High Street passing the Desperate Dan Statue (along with his companions Dawg and Minnie the Minx). We continue along High Street bearing left on to Murraygate, passing my many familiar high street stores. This video ends at the junction between Murraygate and Panmure Street at the entrance to the Wellgate Centre

The Beano

The Beano is a long running British children's comic, published by D. C. Thomson & Co.
The comic first appeared on 30 July 1938, and was published weekly. During World War II, The Beano and The Dandy were published on alternating weeks because of paper and ink rationing. D. C. Thomson's other publications also suffered, with the Oor Wullie and The Broons annuals falling victim to paper and ink shortages. Paper and ink supplies were fully restored shortly after the end of hostilities and weekly publication of The Beano and The Dandy resumed in 1949. In September 2009, The Beano's 3,500th issue was published. The Beano is currently edited by Craig Graham. Each issue is published on a Thursday, with the issue date being that of the following Saturday.
