Mintaro Maze | Clare Valley | South Australia
Mintaro Maze 20-12-2016
About 2 hours from Adelaide, located in the picturesque Clare Valley Mintaro Maze is definitely worth a visit.
DFA 2016 Mintaro Maze
It was years after the original planting, that the maze reached it's current height. The trees have been bonzai'd so they get watered irregularly, and consequently they don't live as long as normal trees of their type.
Sharon (one of the owners) told us to look out for one of the trees that had been planted at the same time as those in the maze, but that had been left as nature intended. See if you can spot it, and my family walking around the maze.
Thanks again Mintaro Maze for allowing me to fly on your property :)

MINTARO
A brief slideshow describing the beautiful historic town of Mintaro located in the Clare Valley , South Australia
Clare Valley - Mintaro
Heading north of Adelaide this week to the Clare Valley.
One of the majestic little places to visit in the Clare Valley is the historic town of Mintaro. We spent three nights here and used this as our base to explore the valley, the wineries and all the sights that the Clare valley has to offer.
Only 100km odd from Adelaide it is one of Australia's oldest wine regions and is famous for the production of Riesling wines. The valley has many boutique wineries, galleries, museums and beautiful scenery where you can spend an enjoyable time savouring the delights of this portion of South Australia.
Best watched in HD.
As always just having a bit of fun and sharing the sites of South Australia that we have visited.
Take care and stay safe.

Martindale Hall Mintaro South Australia
Martindale Hall is a Georgian style mansion near Mintaro, South Australia in the Clare Valley which appeared in the film Picnic at Hanging Rock. The architect was Ebenezer Gregg of London, the chief supervisor was Adelaide architect Edward John Woods and the builder was R. Huckson, who completed the work in 1880.
It was built for a wealthy pastoralist, Edmund Bowman Jr (1855–1921). However, debt and drought forced the Bowmans to sell all their holdings. William Tennant Mortlock bought Martindale Hall in 1892. His son, John Andrew Tennant Mortlock, developed Martindale Station and built up an impressive collection of artwork which was displayed at the Hall. The Mortlock Family bequeathed Martindale Hall and the estate to the University of Adelaide in 1965. Martindale Hall along with 19 hectares (47 acres) of grounds were later handed to the South Australian Government by the University in 1986 and is now open to the public
