Miraflores, Lima, Peru - One of the best neighborhood to live in or stay in when you visit Lima is Miraflores. It’s a great area to walk around, there are parks, oceanside, and plenty of cafes, restaurants and shopping. We landed in Lima, got checked into our apartment ( and immediately took a walk to go eat lunch. Here’s a little walking tour of Miraflores, Lima. #Lima #Peru #travel

Océano Azul - I just searched this restaurant on Google and it looks pretty good and it was in walking distance from our apartment. Ceviche was pretty good, and a nice atmosphere and staff. Total price - 196 PEN ($59.33)
Parque Kennedy - This is a main landmark and park in Miraflores. It’s great to walk around, stroll, and people hang out at the park until l ate at night. You can also stop at Parroquia La Virgen Milagrosa church when you’re there.
Larcomar - This is the major open air shopping center in Lima, overlooking the coast. It’s nicely done, and I like the cafes overlooking the water.
Puku Puku Café Larco - I started with an Americano - 7.50 PEN ($2.27), and it was wonderful. I like how they use local Peruvian coffee. Then Sebastian offered to make us a Mochaccino. That was very nice of him, and it was delicious, my first time to have a mochaccino. Thank you Sebastian!
Wong Supermarket - Finally, right in the heart of Miraflores, across the street from Kennedy Park is Wong Supermarket - a gourmet, kind of expensive, but very nice supermarket.
Lima is an amazing city to travel to or to live in, and Miraflores is a great area of the city to base yourself in.

We visited LIMA, PERU for a week & this is what happened...
It's our first time in South America! We traveled from Mexico to Peru, and Lima completely took us by surprise.

In today’s travel vlog, we fly from Mexico to Lima, Peru. After taking an Uber to our Airbnb in the heart of Miraflores, our travel exhaustion caught up with us. We had to sleep for practically an entire day, which wasn't ideal, but we decided it was better to be refreshed for our week in Lima. After all, we're making our first ever Lima vlog!
A Lima, Peru travel vlog wouldn’t be complete without the neighborhoods of Miraflores and Barranco. So on our first real day in the city, we let a professional cyclist (a Lima local) guide us on a bike tour of the city.
Miraflores is the most popular neighborhood for travelers visiting Lima. It sits right next to the coast with cliffs overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Barranco is Miraflores' colorful, bohemian neighbor, filled with murals, art, and historic architecture.
The first restaurant we tried, Buena Vista Cafe, was quite underwhelming (not typical food from Peru, though). We soon realized that authentic Peruvian foods like causa, ceviche, anticuchos, cancha, and picarones, are DELICIOUS. The more Peruvian food we tried, the more our mouths were watering for it!
Before traveling to Lima, we weren’t big fans of ceviche, but after tasting Peruvian ceviche, it’s now one of our favorite foods on the planet! Come along with us as we explore the food scene in Lima and visit some popular attractions throughout the city!

WHERE TO EAT IN LIMA, PERU

WHAT TO DO IN LIMA, PERU
1. Take a bike tour. We found one on Airbnb and felt like it was the perfect way to get ourselves more comfortable with Lima.
2. Visit Parque del Amor. This park is in the Miraflores neighborhood on the malecon. It's a great place to take some pictures and watch the sunset.
3. Explore the Miraflores and Barranco neighborhoods. There are so many things to see, do, and eat in each of these zones in Lima. They are also considered some of the safest parts of the city.
4. Watch the changing of the guards. Every day at 12pm, you can see this fantastic ceremony at the Presidential Palace (Palacio de Gobierno) in the historic center. We recommend going early (the concert portion starts at 11:30am) to get a front-row seat.
5. Browse Peruvian arts and crafts at Inca Market. There are a few to choose from. They all contain thousands of local handicrafts like blankets, colorful decor, stuffed alpacas, and more.
6. Stroll down the coast. The malecon runs along the coast for miles in Miraflores. There's a walking/bike path through the entire thing and also benches, workout equipment, dog parks, playgrounds, and tons more to see and do.
7. Visit the popular attraction in Peru - Larcomar. This oceanside shopping mall has dozens of shops, restaurants, and cafes.
8. Visit the Pre-Inca Ruins. Enjoy learning about ancient civilizations and their impressive history? This is a must-see.

Estas escaleras de cemento fueron instaladas en 2015 y llevan a turistas desde el malecón y parque Isaac Rabin hasta Parque Tres Picos Playa La pampilla en la Costa Verde de Miraflores, la bajada es alucinante con sus curvas y su vista, disfrútenlo y los espero que lleguen y lo experiencien con sus propios ojos.

Regarding the MUSIC, READ THIS before commenting. There are usually negative comments about it. This is what I heard most of the time even in Miraflores when the video was shot in 2009. I had just arrived then. I agree though, this MUSIC IS PRETTY BAD but I am not changing it - that's how remember Miraflores 2009. I realized later that Grupo 5 is not representative to Miraflores. I was going to change the music but my apartment suffered a burglary and the original files were stolen along with my laptop. Hence no change in music. Bear with it ;-) . If you are a Mirafloriano, don't be offended: embrace your multicultural society and understand and accept all sectors of Peruvian society. NO to classism (class discrimination).

36 HOURS IN MIRAFLORES, LIMA, PERU
What do you do when you have 36 hours in Lima, Peru?
I am on the way to play an AFL football game with the Bogota Bulldogs against the Santiago Saints in Santiago. I like to turn stopovers into vacations with lots of things to do, so I extended my time in Lima to 36 hours so we could get a taste for the city of Lima, Peru visiting Miraflores and Barranco.
Miraflores is a central base for tourism and travel in Lima, Barranco is the new bohemian favorite, and San Isidro is a great upscaled alternative as well.
Lima is lesser developed than Bogota and Santiago, but the tourist infrastructure is great with so many things to do, although as a foreigner you do get extra special gringo pricing so be prepared to get prices up front and haggle with taxis. Lima has some of the best restaurants in the world (#4 and #8) which became clear as flavour was culturally important at restaurants of all price ranges.

Travel Peru: Part 1 Miraflores Lima
Shortly after completing our trek to The Lost City in Northern Colombia, we jumped on a plane first to Medellin, and then on to Lima. We arrived very late at night and caught a taxi to our hotel in Miraflores.
The next day we began exploring the area, Miraflores is quite a surprise, very modern and clean, and it was hard to find a reason to leave as most of what there is to see and do is based around Miraflores. Sure there is more out there, but we were happy to explore and eat locally. Maybe next time we will venture outwards.
But boy did we eat, some of the most amazing food I have had in South America, and undoubtabley the best fish ceviche I have ever had. I wouldn't have thought it, but the sweet potato, raw onion and corn goes incredibely well with the raw fish. And then there was the sushi, oh and the incredible fresh sandwiches, and the unique Chicha corn drink which really grows on you, oh and the sweet potato deep fried donuts. The food, was awesome.
But we didn't just eat, we also wandered around the area exploring a bit, and then went for our first ever surf lesson, it was cool to try something so different to flying, but then it was even more cool to go and fly in such a unique location, we both got to have a flight sandwiched between ocean and city, really beautiful.
After a bit more food and a bit more exploring, it was off to the bus station and on yet another bus, this one bound for Paracas, the so called poor mans Galapagos Islands.

We spent a day exploring the sights of Lima, Peru to come with a list of the top 5 things to do in Lima in one day!
We start off in the touristy area of Miraflores, where first we visit a lighthouse (La Marina Lighthouse ). We then make our way down the boardwalk area to a famous park called Lover’s Park or The Parque Del Amor. It has a big statue in the middle with lovers embracing.
After that we headed to a different area of the city called Barranco where we walked across the Bridge of Sighs. Rumour is that if you hold your breath all the way across your wish will come true.
Later we made our way again to another area, this time to the historical centre of Lima to explore the Main Square of Lima, or the Plaza De Armas. Here you’ll find lots of old historical buildings, the presidential palace and the Cathedral of Lima. We also walked a little bit and visited the Basílica y Convento de San Francisco de Lima.
Lastly we made our way to the Park of the Reserve of Parque de la Reserva which has an amazing fountain, light and music show a few times a week.
