Lost in the mountains: Tongyeong Edition | FAT TIME KOREA
My city has pretty cool things too.
It was a cold day in Tongyeong when we decided to hit up the cable cars and enjoy a marvellous view at Mireuksan. Great views, frozen toes... it felt like home. haha. And the hike down was also a great adventure, but please make sure you have your GPS! Good thing the temple was near the foot of the mountain so we just walked all the way back to the bus stop. If we hadn't gotten down before the sunset, oh boy. I will definitely be back for another hike, maybe going up next time~
There was no food in this FAT TIME KOREA because we ended up doing some...partying after ;) Sorry. Maybe Anna's thumb was tasty~

This video is the second of my three-part summer vacation road trip. My wife and I took a ferry from Tongyeong to the island of Saryangdo and hiked to the suspension bridge. Due to the extreme summer heat, we were dehydrated and exhausted. We quickly descended the mountain to catch the next ferry off the island. After our hike, we went to Tongyeong's Hallyeo Waterway Observation Cable Car and it was crowded. Luckily, they had a number system so we didn't have to stand in line to board. At the top station of the cable car, you can enjoy the views of the many surrounding islands. There are two walking courses, the shorter one leads to the lookout point of the Great Battle of Hansan and the longer course leads to the summit of Mireuksan Mountain. We chose the longer course because it was higher and we can see the other course below. Be prepare to walk up many wooden stairs and it wasn't too bad of a hike. We ended the day at the fishing port in Tongyeong where we had a delicious seafood dinner. Introduction:
Tongyeong is a historical port city in South Gyeongsang Province, South Korea. It is known throughout Korea for its picturesque harbor. It was formerly known as Chungmu, after the posthumous name of Yi Sun-sin, a naval commander of the Joseon Dynasty famed for his victories during the Japanese invasions of Korea (1592-1598). The name Tongyeong means 'command post' and is also associated with Admiral Yi, as it refers to his principal base that was on nearby Hansan Island.
Mireuksan is a mountain in the city of Tongyeong, Gyeongsangnam-do in South Korea. It has an elevation of 461 m (1,512 ft)
Maemuldo Island is comprised the three islands Daemaemuldo Island, Somaemuldo Island, and Deungdaedo Island. The best view can be seen from the sea cliffs of Somaemuldo Island and Deungdaedo Island. Somaemuldo Island, whose entire area is no more than 2.51?, is a small island but very popular. Daemaemuldo, Hongdo, Deungdaedo, Daegueulbido and Sogueulbido Islands are all scattered around Somaemuldo Island.

Tongyeong is one a city that has ferries to many islands. During this trip, I decided to hike Saryangdo's Jirisan. This was not a high mountain and the hike itself was not that difficult but the views were spectacular. After returning to Tonyeong from Saryangdo island, I headed over to the cable car and then went to the summit of Mireuksan. Here are the highlights from my trip and the places that I went to in Tongyeong. Hopefully you'll like it! I will also add a link to the places so if you want more info, you can check it out.

I spent the weekend hiking up Jirisan mountain, a.k.a. the tallest mountain in mainland Korea, and Mireuksan mountain in Tongyeong with the Seoul Hiking Group.

Had a weekend trip to Tongyeong, Gyeongsangnamdo, Republic of Korea.
Tongyeong is a city along the coast of South Sea. It takes about 4~5 hours by bus from Seoul.
It has wonderful people, great seafoods, exciting activities and beautiful streets. Absolutely worthy of visiting if you are in Korea.

◆ Team Masters' Itinerary
Team Masters is off to Geoje, Namhae's signature destination for relaxation by searching through SNS postings. Team Masters visits Hakdong Pebble Beach, Korea's biggest pebble beach, and enjoys the sound of rolling waves at the pebble beach looking out to sea.
After that, Team Masters goes to Windy Hill, a classic hot spot in Geoje, and appreciates the magnificent view of Geoje from the top of the hill.
Then Team Masters takes off to Sea World through SNS searches, which offers unique experiences. The team enjoys a special opportunity to connect with dolphins while feeding and training them. Then the team goes see the aloes in Geoje, which accounts for 70% of the national aloe production, and to wrap up the trip, grab a bite of super-sized craft burgers, Geoje's specialty trending on SNS.
◆ Team Rookies' Itinerary
Team Rookies is off to Tongyeong, a city that embraces the Hallyeo Waterway, based on a travel guide map.
The team's first stop is Dongpirang Village, Korea's signature mural village!
The team looks around the beautiful murals in the village and tries the craft of lacquerware with mother-of-pearl inlay, a traditional Korean decorative technique for wood lacquer crafts.
After that, Team Rookies goes on a cable car! The team goes to the top of Mireuksan Mountain, one of Korea's 100 most beautiful mountains, and enjoys the fantastic sight of the Hallyeo Waterway. The team also rides the luge, Tongyeong's unique ride that descends purely based on the gravity and the slopes of the ground.
Next, the team goes to Tongyeong Jungang Market to meet with market vendors who have been doing business there for a long time, and tries unique flavors of Tongyeong. To wrap up, Team Rookies enjoys fresh seafood in Tongyeong, the largest waypoint for ocean catches in the Namhae area.
