Mirijjawila Botanical Garden is one of the five botanical gardens in Sri Lanka. The other botanical gardens are Peradeniya Botanical Garden, Hakgala Botanical Garden, Henarathgoda Botanical Garden and Seetawaka Botanical Garden.
Mirijjawila Botanical Garden is located on the Colombo-Kataragama main road. It has the Mattala International Airport on its left side and the Hambantota Harbour on its right side.
This land was covered with thorny shrubs and abandoned chena lands, when it allocated for this purpose in 2006. Three water tanks named Kohombagas wewa, Malitthangas wewa and demataththa wewa, are constructed in the garden premises to preserve the moisture of the land.
The total area of the botanical garden is about 300 acres.

Mirijjawila Botanical Garden is only one dry zone botanical gardens in Sri Lanka. Mirijjawila Dry Zone Botanical Garden situated in the Hambantota District. The Botanical Garden has 300 acres of land and 180 acres are developed by them since 2006 to now. This Dry Zone Botanical Garden opened to public on 2013.

Had a chance to visit the currently constructing Wild Safari Park at Ridiyagama, Hambanthota. Place provide the opportunity to see animals as in their natural habitats. Workers told they will provide special bus to transport tourist around the park where they can view the animals. most of the animals are the ones in African Parks. this is the Lion holding up section in the park. currently they keep the lions in cages until the park ready to open for public.
