MIRISSA, SRI LANKA - THE END OF THE SOUTH COAST | VLOG #35
Mirissa is one of the most popular beach towns of Sri Lanka, mostly for activities such as Mirissa beach, whale watching dolphin watching. As usual we went out looking for less touristy spots and actually found a beautiful spot called Secret Beach. We also went to explore the main beach of Mirissa and shine some light on the 'boobs' and 'ass' shape of that. You'll see in the video what we mean with that. ????
We're ending our adventures on the south coast of Sri Lanka and will be moving on to a greener environment, into the mountains! Let us know if you've got any questions and give us some love if you like the video. Thanks guys!

Whale Watching in Mirissa Sri Lanka
The sea of Mirissa is the place where you can see whales and dolphins while travelling in Sri Lanka. Many sightings have been reported in November to April in the year.
Many pygmy blue whales can be seen at Dondra point in Sri Lanka. You can access it through the Mirissa Harbour or Weligama Harbour. Whale watching tours can be arranged via many in Sri Lanka.

Whale Watching in Mirissa, Sri Lanka // WE SAW A BLUE WHALE!
Whale watching in Mirissa was by far one of the most incredible activities I did while in Sri Lanka.
I've done whale watching in South Africa before but this trip was much better as we saw SO MANY WHALES! From pilot whales to two massive blue whales, biggest mammals on earth, even bigger than our boat. It was a truly exciting whale watching trip and is also super cheap at only $30 per person.

Today we took yet another local bus from Tangalle to Mirissa where we checked into our hotel and headed straight for the beach. We took our chances with the tide and climbed parrot rock to see the stunning views across the bay, and tucked into some delicious Kottu with the sand between our toes!

In 1980 the 1st tourist accomodation was built, however it wasn't until the mid-1990s that tourism to the town started to dramatically increase.
Coconut tree hill is the most well-known place in Mirissa beach where you can watch the infinite sea and Mirissa bay area.

Sri Lanka Mirissa Whale Watching: This is a must do activity when you are visiting SriLanka. I witnessed the blue whale 4 times and in this video you will get to see exactly that.
Since, this was during the month of November, 2018, it was off season and ticket price was around 3000 LKR. Normally during peak tourist season tickets cost 6000 LKR.
In order to book tickets, visit one of the local whale watching tour operators the previous night and book your place.

Mirissa is one of the best beaches in Sri Lanka and the main attraction is the mirissa whale watching.

Whale Watching - Mirissa Sri Lanka (2019)
The blue whale is a marine mammal belonging to the baleen whale parvorder, Mysticeti. At up to 29.9 metres in length and with a maximum recorded weight of 173 tonnes, it is the largest animal known to have ever existed.
Pre-whaling, there may have been more than 250,000 blue whales. But relentlessly pursued by 20th century whaling fleets, the species was nearly exterminated before receiving worldwide protection in 1967.
The blue whale has a truly global distribution, occurring in all oceans except the Arctic, and enclosed seas. But despite this, they are one of the rarest of the whales, numbering between 10,000-25,000. Most biologists consider them to be among the most endangered of the great whales.
A high concentration of sperm whales and blue whales can be spotted off the coast of Dondra during the months of December to April. According to marine biologists, these whales can be residents or visitors since the continental shelf off Dondra and Mirissa is quite narrow. Also the best spot to have a glimpse of the sperm whale would be along the North-Western coast in Kalpitiya. Whale watching is also possible during the months of June to September along the Eastern coast such as Trincomalee. Whales are fond of deep waters while they have the tendency to communicate with sound and song.
We were very lucky to see mating blue whale couple and they were so closed to the southern shore of Sri Lanka.

SECRET BEACH MIRISSA (+ Coconut Hill at sunset!) | Sri Lanka Travel
“Secret beach” in Mirissa turned out to be a pretty badly kept secret, but we still had some trouble finding it! After lazing on the beach for a few hours we headed out for a quick lunch and made a new friend! We also hiked up Coconut Hill to watch the famously beautiful sunset.
P.S. We accidentally changed the settings on our camera, so this vlog is in a lower resolution than usual!
