MIROGOJ CEMETERY | DOLAC MARKET | ZAGREB, CROATIA
Mirogoj cemetery and Dolac market! What’s not to love about Zagreb?! ⇩Click to see more⇩
MIROGOJ CEMETARY: This place really takes you back in time. With the lovely large columns at the entrance, it’s pretty hard not to be mesmerized by this beautiful piece of architecture. As mentioned in this video, Miogoj is owned by the city, and has many different religious burials, from Jews, Muslims, Protestants, Catholics, etc. Not only is Mirogoj a cemetery, but it feels as though you are walking through a time machine, everything was preserved so well, I was really quite surprised. I can see why many famous Croatians are buried here. It is beautiful!
DOLAC MARKET: If you are only in Zagreb for a day or two, then I highly recommend visiting the Dolac market. They really give you a great feel for the Croatian culture in a short amount of time. My favourite moments had to be walking through the big red umbrellas seeing all the locals call out to each other. Also, people watching in the cheese section, seeing all the old ladies proudly selling their products, and to see the butchers cut meat to perfection. The cherry on top was at the end when all the old men gather in the bar afterwards for a cold brew. What a day! :)

Hey there, my name is Lana Tiare,
I come from the north of New Zealand.
I made the decision to quit my job as a nurse to go travelling abroad. I enjoy slow travel and experiencing local life & culture. Travelling can be hard when you don't have the information you need. My vlogs will show you my experiences as a full-time traveller, and hopefully, give you some insight into becoming a digital nomad.

I love cemeteries... This is where you really can actually see the history of a country, you can go back hundreds of years... I've taken Mike to cemeteries in every country that we have been to and we saw some of the best architecture of gravestones... It is really beautiful. -- said Florence Lince, American, on the filming of the first episode Story about Mirogoj.

The Mirogoj Cemetery is a cemetery park that is considered to be among the more noteworthy landmarks in the City of Zagreb. The cemetery inters members of all religious groups: Catholic, Orthodox, Muslim, Jewish, Protestant, Latter Day Saints and irreligious graves can all be found. In the arcades are the last resting places of many famous Croatians. It was difficult to photograph the statue because of the interesting positions of the arms and legs. That's why I chose to film it.

I wanted to capture the details of the art, and felt that I had better lighting conditions filming than photographing. This can be found somewhere along the main walls with the green domes (to the left from the main entrance).
