Lake of the Clouds Solo Backpack Trip - 2016

Lake of the Clouds is a lake located in Ontonagon County in the Upper Peninsula of the U.S. state of Michigan within the Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park. The lake is situated in a valley between two ridges in the Porcupine Mountains.

So much to enjoy in Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park! Today we visit Lake of the Clouds which is just a beautiful spot to visit. After a quick lunch stop at home (complete with singing!), a short little hike up the Summit Tower trail! We did a hike all four of us as well, which will be tomorrow's video :) Enjoy!

Here's a tour of site 17 on the Lake Superior Trail in the Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park. Highly recommend this beautiful site. We found out on this trip that the black flies are really bad on the lake in July.

October 5-7, 2018

Day 1: After checking in at the visitor’s center and a quick stop at Lake of the Clouds, we parked at Little Carp River parking lot. We hiked west along the North Country Trail/Little Carp River Trail to Lake Superior, then northeast for a short distance before heading back southeast on the Big Carp River Trail to BC-8 where we camped for the night. 8+ miles.

Day 2: We continued east on the Big Carp River Trail and then followed the Correction Line Trail to Mirror Lake, stopping to camp at SML-1. 7+ miles.

Day 3: We left Mirror Lake south on the Little Carp River Trail which took us back to our starting point at the parking lot. 4+ miles.

We had plenty of wet and muddy trail, but overall it was an awesome section for a weekend trip. October in the Porkies is spectacular!
