In this video we are visiting Iwaki Beach in Fusushima Prefecture, Japan. After our 13 hour from from Canada (Halifax to Toronto, Toronto to Tokyo) we finally made it to Japan. We went to bed almost right away (visited for a few hours with Akane's parents first).
On our first real day in Japan, we strolled the streets of Iwaki. We walk around this rural area. We ended up going to Misaki Park, a nice spot near the Pacific Ocean. With the Pacific Ocean so close, I knew I had to dip my feet in - and this is the first time my eyes have paid themselves on the Pacific Ocean. I was pleasantly surprised! Not as cold as I thought.
Our first day didn't comprise of much, but it was a great start to the trip!

It's a thorny subject for the government, which has pitched the Games in part as a chance to showcase the recovery of areas affected by the 2011 tsunami and nuclear disaster.

A prayer for Iwaki, Fukushima
Here is Jon Petersen, a leader in the 24-7 Prayer movement (24-7prayer.com) and a man who grew up as a missionary kid in Japan, praying over the city of Iwaki, in Fukushima prefecture. Iwaki is located 25 miles from where the Fukushima reactor melted down, but miraculously, God has protected this city (the 6th largest in Japan) where radiation levels are normal. We are at the Global Mission Center, a base for a local fellowship, for teams of short-term volunteers to serve in the relief effort, and for prayer and worship.
