Places to see in ( Swansea - UK )
Swansea, officially known as the City and County of Swansea, is a coastal city and county in Wales. Swansea is the second largest city in Wales after Cardiff, and the twenty-fifth largest city in the UK.
Swansea lies within the historic county boundaries of Glamorgan and the ancient Welsh commote of Gŵyr. Situated on the sandy South West Wales coast, the county of Swansea area includes the Gower Peninsula and the Lliw uplands.
The City and County of Swansea local authority area is bordered by unitary authorities of Carmarthenshire to the north, and Neath Port Talbot to the east. Swansea is bounded by Swansea Bay and the Bristol Channel to the south. Swansea can be roughly divided into four physical areas. To the north are the Lliw uplands which are mainly open moorland, reaching the foothills of the Black Mountain. To the west is the Gower Peninsula with its rural landscape dotted with small villages. To the east is the coastal strip around Swansea Bay. Cutting though the middle from the south-east to the north-west is the urban and suburban zone stretching from the Swansea city centre to the towns of Gorseinon and Pontarddulais.
Swansea City A.F.C. (founded 1912) is the city's main football association team. Originally playing at the Vetch Field, they moved to the Liberty Stadium at the start of the 2005–2006 season, winning promotion to League One in their final year at their old stadium. The team presently play in the Premier League, after being promoted during the 2010/11 season. The Football Association of Wales had decided that for the Euro 2012 qualifying campaign, Wales would play all of their home ties at either the Cardiff City Stadium or the Liberty Stadium. Swansea has three association football clubs that play in the Welsh Football League: Garden Village, South Gower and West End.

Wales, America and the Space Race, Swansea University
Mr George W. S. Abbey Sr., previously Director of the NASA Johnson Space Centre and now Senior Fellow in Space Policy at the Baker Institute, Rice University, Houston, gave the annual Richard Burton lecture on the 25 April at Swansea University.
The public lecture entitled 'In Conversation with George Abbey: Wales, America and the Space Race' saw the former senior NASA official discuss a number of fascinating topics including the moon landings, the space shuttle programme and why Wales is the most photographed nation from space.
The event was hosted by the Richard Burton Centre for the Study of Wales, one of the flagship research centres of the Research Institute for Arts and Humanities (RIAH), Swansea University.
George Abbey served in the US Air Force before he joined NASA in 1964 where he was assigned to the Apollo programme. In 1976 he became director of flight operations where his responsibilities included the management of flight and crew in spaceflight missions.
In the eighties he became director of the Flight Crew Operations Directorate and selected the crews that flew during the early years of the Space Shuttle programme, also putting the first women in space. In 1996, Abbey was made Director of the NASA Johnson Space Centre where he was part of the NASA Shuttle-MIR Programme, and a central figure in the development of the international space station
This is the third Richard Burton annual lecture. Previous speakers have been Professor Chris Williams, Editor of The Richard Burton Diaries and Director of the Research Institute for Arts and Humanities (RIAH) and John McGrath, Director, National Theatre of Wales.

A song about Salford in Northern England in 1949. I visited Salford in the late 70's, might even have been 1980 for a friends 21st birthday party. Being from Newcastle and growing up in Pelton County Durham I have to say Salford seemed pretty posh to me! Now if the song had been about Consett........ - except no canal there! Can check out the history of the song here

RED ARROWS 2019 4K
The Red Arrows, officially known as the Royal Air Force Aerobatic Team, is the aerobatics display team of the Royal Air Force based at RAF Scampton. The team was formed in late 1964 as an all-RAF team, replacing a number of unofficial teams that had been sponsored by RAF commands.
The Red Arrows have a prominent place in British popular culture, with their aerobatic displays a fixture of British summer events. The badge of the Red Arrows shows the aircraft in their trademark diamond nine formation, with the motto Éclat, a French word meaning brilliance or excellence.
Initially, they were equipped with seven Folland Gnat trainers inherited from the RAF Yellowjacks display team. This aircraft was chosen because it was less expensive to operate than front-line fighters. In their first season, they flew at 65 shows across Europe. In 1966, the team was increased to nine members, enabling them to develop their Diamond Nine formation. In late 1979, they switched to the BAE Hawk trainer. The Red Arrows have performed over 4,800 displays in 57 countries worldwide.
The footage on this video was filmed at Swansea and Fairford (RIAT) airshows 2019.

Love Divine, all loves excelling - Organ Hymn Series #6
Love Divine, all loves excelling is the sixth hymn in our Organ Hymn Series. This stirring hymn uses the tune BLAENWERN, composed by the Welsh composer William Rowlands (1860 - 1937). The text was written by Charles Wesley (1707 - 88). An alternative tune is also often used, LOVE DIVINE composed by John Stainer (1840 - 1901).
This is the sixth hymn in the Organ Hymn Series, where we not only perform some of the best-loved hymns in the world, but we also showcase a variety of hymns from different organs in churches throughout the UK.
The video was uploaded with kind permission from St Mary's Church, Wimbledon. The organ is by A. Hunter & Son of Clapham 1925. Incorporating part of the case and a few pipes from the Walker organ of 1843, which was rebuilt by
Alfred Hunter in 1876. Several prepared for stops were added by Hunter between 1926 and 1937.
Great Trumpet made playable on Choir by Rushworth & Dreaper.
Rebuilt with electro-pneumatic action by B. C. Shepherd & Sons of Edgware, Middlesex, 2007-8, console moved to north gallery.
