Lake Huron Mississagi Lighthouse, Meldrum Bay Canada
This lighthouse guided vessels through the hazardous 3 kilometre Mississagi Straits. John Miller was the first lighthouse keeper until 1887. Boats provisioned him biannually. A road replaced the horse trail in 1940. Electricity replaced the coal oil lamp in 1970.
Why I love to travel: Mississagi Lighthouse - Manitoulin Island, Canada
This summer I was exploring all the hidden gems of Manitoulin Island. Beautiful weather was helping a lot with a couple of aerial shots in Meldrum Bay - Mississagi Lighthouse.
Mississagi Lighthouse Campground
Our campsite. Delightful, inexpensive, and didn't sink when we got 3 of rain.
The small black buoy just off shore is the wreck of the Burlington, which burned while at anchor about 1914.
A Bird's Eye View of the Chapel and Meldrum Bay
Friends Steve and Deb came up to Meldrum for a quick visit. Steve brought his drone and, when the heat and the rain let up, he took it for a flight over the south end of Meldrum Bay. This is a rough edit of all the good stuff.

Forzaman #31 Morning at Meldrum Bay
Waking up early in Meldrum Bay. Beautiful scenery and enjoying a coffee before getting on the bike and heading back home.

Mississagi Strait Land's End, Manitoulin Island Ontario
Facing west to Cockburn Island, this 3 kilometre strait joins Lake Huron with its Georgian Bay North Channel. The dolostone is part of the Niagara Escarpment. The 1873 Mississagi Point lighthouse is the fabled site of French explorer Rene-Robert La Salle's barque 'Le Griffon', lost in 1679. Nightfall On Hoskinnini Plateau, performed by Native flutitst John Huling, provides a rhythmic musical accompaniment for the monochrome and colour shoreline landscapes and botanical close-ups. Two quotes about attitudes toward life by Indian philospoher Prem Rawat bookend the nature images.
Lighthouse Road Trip - Top-5 Best Maritime Canada Lighthouses
I spent three weeks doing a lighthouse road trip around Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island (PEI), the three provinces that make up Maritime Canada. During that time I saw dozens of lighthouses. While there are hundreds of Maritime Canada lighthouses throughout the three provinces, and while I only visited a couple dozen of them, I believe the following are some of the coolest. Leave a comment below and tell me which one is your favorite. For details on these 5 Maritime Canada Lighthouses, visit:

Mississagi Strait Lighthouse, Manitoulin Island Ontario Lake Huron
Our trip to the west side of Manitoulin Island Ontario in September of 2014. We ride out until we hit the gravel roads and then stop at the lighthouse and enjoy the views of Lake Huron and the coast.
What a beautiful spot and there is camping right on the waters edge. I bring my bike down to the water for some glamor shots.
The shots at the end are from the sunset over Lake Mindemoya.

Former Lighthouse Keeper's Wife Visits New Inn on The Cuckolds
WCSH Channel 6 's popular news magazine show, 207, recently traveled to Cuckolds Lighthouse with a former resident of the island. It had been nearly 50 years since Nancy Urquhart Conley had stepped foot on the island. Here's her reaction to the transformation of her former home into a luxury inn and bed and breakfast on this Maine island near Boothbay Harbor.
