▶︎ America's BEST
We have been to many states and campgrounds. This is one of our favorites. It only has 14 Full Hookup sites but they are all beautiful. Well kept campgrounds, lake, and facilities. There is also a tent site area and a primitive camping area. The sites stayed booked, so if you want to give it a try, you need to book well in advance of your desired date of travel. We go here at least 4 or 5 times a year. It is only about 40 min drive from Forrest City and a 10 min. drive from Marianna, Arkansas. There is a boat dock where you can put your boat in the water. They also have fishing boats and kayaks for rent.

Title: What is Helena–West Helena, Arkansas?, Explain Helena–West Helena, Arkansas

Description: Helena–West Helena is the county seat of and the largest city within Phillips County, Arkansas, United States. The current city was consolidated, effective January 1, 2006, from the two Arkansas cities of Helena and West Helena. Helena is sited on lowlands between the Mississippi River and the eastern side of Crowley's Ridge. West Helena is located on the western side of Crowley's Ridge, a geographic anomaly in the typically flat Arkansas Delta. The Helena Bridge, one of Arkansas' four Mississippi River bridges, carries U.S. Route 49 across to Mississippi. The combined population of the two cities was 15,012 at the 2000 census and at the 2010 census, the official population was 12,282.The municipality traces its historical roots to the founding of the port town of Helena on the Mississippi River by European Americans in 1833. As the county seat, Helena was the center of a prosperous cotton plantation region in the antebellum years. Helena was occupied by the Union Army early in the American Civil War. The city was the site of the Battle of Helena fought in 1863. Confederate forces unsuccessfully tried to expel Union forces from Helena in order to help relieve pressure on the strategic river town of Vicksburg, Mississippi. Later in the year, Helena served as the launching point for the Union Army in the capture of Little Rock, the state capital. A thriving blues community developed here in the 1940s and 1950s as rural musicians relocated for city jobs. Mechanization had reduced the need for farm workers. The city continued to grow until the closing of the Mohawk Rubber Company, a subsidiary of Yokohama Rubber Company, in the 1970s. Unemployment surged shortly after.Among the attractions in Helena–West Helena are the Delta Cultural Center, the Pillow-Thompson House , and the Helena Confederate Cemetery, which holds the remains of seven Confederate Army generals. The city holds an annual King Biscuit Blues Festival each October. It has been held under this name since 2010, when it was renamed at a 25th-anniversary performance by musician B.B. King.

Exploring Arkansas August 2016
The term plein air is the painting of life in the open air out in nature. Plein air artists from around the country gathered in Eureka Springs for the first annual Plein Air Festival.Bear Creek Lake is a pristine storybook setting located in the St. Francis National Forest north of Helena. The lake offers not only scenic views but an abundance of great fishing for big bluegill, largemouth bass and catfish. It's called The Forgotten Tragedy - the Sultana Mississippi River steamboat disaster of April 27, 1865 near Marion, Arkansas - the greatest maritime disaster in U.S. history - more perished than in the Titanic. When an addition was added to Parachute Inn in Walnut Ridge in 2005, the restaurant took on a whole new dining experience - tray tables are down in this Boeing 737 jetliner.
Give Helena, Arkansas the opportunity to surprise you!
Come to Helena in the Arkansas Delta and explore the Mississippi River by canoe, experience the King Biscuit Blues Festival, and walk through Civil War history at Fort Curtis. #VisitArkansas

Ozark Moonshine Run, Prim's Round Rocks, Smackover Ghost Tour, Great River Road
You're not likely to find moonshine, but you will enjoy one of the most picturesque drives in the Ozarks by taking the 110 mile Ozark Moonshine Run which utilizes six highways. Prim's round boulders have been quite the attraction for a long time. They're not so much a mystery, but are related to several geological processes dating back about ten thousand years. It's called Oil Town USA, but Smackover boasts of another attraction a ghost tour of five active haunted buildings plus three cemeteries. A pleasant Delta drive is the Great River Road, which is actually a national parkway of the Mississippi River, extending through ten states.

SUMMARY
=======
The Arkansas Delta is one of the six natural regions of the state of Arkansas. Willard B. Gatewood Jr., author of The Arkansas Delta: Land of Paradox, says that rich cotton lands of the Arkansas Delta make that area The Deepest of the Deep South. The region runs along the Mississippi River from Eudora north to Blytheville and as far west as Little Rock. It is part of the Mississippi embayment, itself part of the Mississippi River Alluvial Plain. The flat plain is bisected by Crowley's Ridge, a narrow band of rolling hills rising 250 to 500 feet (76 to 152 m) above the flat delta plains. Several towns and cities have been developed along Crowley's Ridge, including Jonesboro. The region's lower western border follows the Arkansas River just outside Little Rock down through Pine Bluff. There the border shifts to Bayou Bartholomew, stretching south to the Arkansas-Louisiana state line.
While the Arkansas Delta shares many geographic similarities with the Mississippi Delta, it is distinguished by its five unique sub-regions: the St. Francis Basin, Crowley's Ridge, the White River Lowlands, the Grand Prairie and the Arkansas River Lowlands (also called the Delta Lowlands). Much of the region is within the Mississippi lowland forests ecoregion.
The Arkansas Delta includes the entire territories of 15 counties: Arkansas, Chicot, Clay, Craighead, Crittenden, Cross, Desha, Drew, Greene, Lee, Mississippi, Monroe, Phillips, Poinsett, and St. Francis. It also includes portions of another 10 counties: Jackson, Lawrence, Prairie, Randolph, White, Pulaski, Lincoln, Jefferson, Lonoke and Woodruff counties.
Camping Cooking Gear, Kayak-Camping Cooking
This is my solo camping cooking gear. I want to show you that it doesn't have to cost you very much if you look around! I made the stove, bought the main pieces and found my cooking cups and pans at value priced thrift shops.
Thank you for watching Florida Girl Adventure videos. A few years ago, I started this project of making videos while I was out 'adventuring' to share with my family. As you see I am a solo hiker, kayak-er and camper and I wanted my husband and daughter to be able to see the sites and share some of my experiences, without all the bugs, dirt and heat of actually being there. In December 2015 I went live with my first videos to Youtube and they were received successfully from the viewers. With that I have been encouraged to keep sharing my videos with you. I know that people from totally different states who may never make it to Florida might get to see some back wooded area, some swamp, or some local gathering hole that they otherwise would never have seen.
If you like my videos please check out my website here:

Troop engagements of the American Civil War, 1862
The following is a list of engagements that took place in 1862 during the American Civil War. During the winter and early spring of the year, Union forces gained several successes over the Confederacy, seizing control of Missouri, northern Arkansas, Kentucky, and western Tennessee, along with several coastal areas. Confederate forces then launched counter–offensives into Kentucky and Maryland, both of which end in Union victories.
