New Year in Japan 2019
New Year in Japan 2019
We celebrate the New Year in Japan and went to a small New Year fair, had street food for dinner and after that we went to the Shrine at midnight. Traditionally there is no countdown in Japan. Of course, now these days you can find it, for example in Shibuya. On tradition is to visit the shrine for the first time in the New Year. Like in the West, different families have different traditions. The shrine was crowded, typically for Kamakura and we decided to come another time. Finally we went on the 3rd of January to pray, get our fortune telling and picking up our Hamaya.
Silvester in Japan.
