Jodogahama Beach, or Pure Land Beach, is one of the most famous places of scenic beauty on the Rikuchu Coast. The vivid contrast of the sharp, white rocks, green pines, and deep blue sea has been compared to the Pure Land or Paradise by a Buddhist monk named Reikyo, hence the name Jodogahama. It is listed in Japan's 100 Best Beaches, 100 Best Beaches for Swimming, 100 Scents of Japan, to name a few.
It is indeed a great beach for swimming, with clean water and gentle waves. There are facilities such as a bus terminal building, a marine house, a rest house, as well as a boat rental service. Look out for crabs and small fish in the tide pools along the esplanade from the beach to the marine house!

岩手県宮古市の景勝地、浄土ヶ浜です。2011年3月11日の津波の影響で2011年の夏は海水浴は出来ませんでしたが自然の美しさはそのままです。
It is the state of the Jodogahama in Miyako, Iwate Prefecture. The beauty of nature is untouched beach in the summer of 2011, but was not able to in the impact of the tsunami of March 11, 2011.

This is my last vlog in Japan???? We went to Jodogahama in Miyako, Iwate prefecture from Akita city. Miyako Bay is part of a national park and also a well-known attractions for the locals. We joined one of the boat tour and visited the Blue Grotto!

浄土ヶ浜＆遊覧船2018 Jodogahama Beach Miyako shi, Iwate

JODOGAHAMA CRUISE (1)
A 40-minutes cruise from Jodogahama, Miyako-city, Iwate-pref.
Jodogahama means Beach of Nirvana. Some rocks and islands are named from the theme of nirvana.
It's not operated till mid of JUL due to earthquake, but started operation again.
Cruise date: 21 AUG 2011
We should notice this beautiful coast was assaulted by tsunami,
and many part of coastal village are on the way of re-construction.
About beach, we can't enjoy swimming now, because many tips of glass are mixed with sand.

陸中海岸には、まだまだいっぱいビュースポットがあります。
でも、あたしたちはこの浄土ヶ浜で最後です。
この後盛岡まで行かなきゃならんもんですから。
浄土ヶ浜は、この辺ではナンバーワンスポットと思ってました。
山王岩、潮吹き穴が絶景でしたから、期待してましたよ。
ナンバーワンだけに、大勢がやってきているんでしょうね。
駐車場はいっぱい。
停めることができたのは、山の上の駐車場。
はるばる階段を下りて浜まで行きます。
浜は海水浴場なんですねぇ。
白いのこぎりみたいな岩がシンボルなんでしょう。
あんまりよく調べていかなかったから、ベストなビューポイントが他にもあるのかもしれませんが行ってません。
駐車場までの帰り道はつらかったぁ。
長い上り坂の後に109段の階段。
これはつらい。
この後の盛岡ではわんこそばを食べることはないんですよ、実は。

I enjoy the scenery and sea bathing.
