Udo Shrine Miyazaki, Kyushu JAPAN
Udo-jingū 鵜戸神宮 is a Shinto shrine in Nichinan, Miyazaki prefecture, Japan, south of Aoshima.
Udo shrine is in a cave in the side of the cliff, near the Nichinan coast of Miyazaki. The honden, or main shrine, is in a cavern with a spectacular view of the ocean.
In the cave is the ochichi iwa, or breast stone, a dripping stone which is said to have fed the kami Ugayafukiaezu, father of the first emperor of Japan, when his mother returned to the sea. The shrine sells a candy made from the water of this stone, mizuame, a kind of taffy.
In the slight distance of the cavern is a rocky island with two peaks. Attendees can purchase small clay balls and attempt to toss them between the peaks for good luck
It is the mythical birthplace of Emperor Jimmu's father Yamasachihiko, dedicated to Ugayafukiaezu, Amaterasu, Amenooshihomimi, Ninigi-no-Mikoto, Hoori and Emperor Jimmu. The shrine is popular with young couples hoping for easy childbirth and a happy marriage.

Most Beautiful Shrine in Japan|Day 96 - Miyazaki
Tucked away in the mountains of the very beautiful Aya Town in Kyushu’s Miyazaki Prefecture you will find the famous Teruha Suspension Bridge Meant to be the world’s longest suspension bridge devoted only to pedestrian traffic when it was built in 1984. Aya Town is also famous for it’s castle and craft village, as well as rather good home grown wine. The Teruha bridge is 250m long and 142m tall at it’s highest point above Honjougawa river, and doesn’t rock quite as much as you’d imagine. On the other side of the bridge lies the entrance to a national park aiming to preserve the natural forests of Kyushu, as they looked before the introduction of tree farming after the second world war.
Udo Shrine (鵜戸神宮, Udo Jingū), located on the Nichinan Coast south of Miyazaki City, is dedicated to Yamasachihiko, the father of Emperor Jimmu, the mythical first emperor of Japan. This brightly painted shrine is set in a cave on the side of a cliff overlooking the ocean and so enjoys a spectacular view.
There are a few legends concerning Emperor Jimmu and this cave, although it is unclear whether he was born here or visited here as a baby. However, the one thing the stories have in common are the breast shaped rocks in the cave wall which are said to have nourished him.
Drinking the water that drips from these rocks is thought to be beneficial for pregnancy, childbirth, nursing and women hoping to have a child. The shrine is also thought to be fortunate for couples and newlyweds.
Outside the cave is a terrace overlooking the ocean. Among the rocks below is a target marked by rope into which people try to throw small ceramic undama, or lucky balls (available at the shrine for a small fee). Women throw with their right hand while men throw with their left, and landing an undama in the target brings good luck.

Abandoned Temple, Miyazaki Japan

Walking over the bridge to Aoshima in Miyazaki
Walking over the bridge to the small island Aoshima in Miyazaki prefecture in Japan. Pretty rough sea and occasionally the water would splash over the bridge a little bit :)
The island has a nice shinto shrine on it as well.

Mystical SHINTO SHRINE in a forest in TOKYO! | Japan Travel Vlog
Backpacking Travel Vlog
Tokyo, Japan
January 12th - 13th, 2018
In this travel vlog (days three and four in Tokyo), I get up early to meet up with my friend Andy and his friends, as we visit the famous Tsukiji Fish Market to sample some fresh products. Later, I visit the mystical Meiji Shrine of the Shinto religion, in the middle of a big park in the Shibuya district. The next day, I try to visit the Imperial Palace, and later check out the Akihabara district (famous for anime and electronics), before I get on a night bus headed to Kyoto!
(For reference: $1 USD ~= 112 Japanese Yen)
