Rescuing Needles
A decade ago, Western Area Power Administration began working with a small municipality in California. The city of Needles sees extreme heat in the summertime, which endangers vulnerable populations, especially those who don’t have reliable power. After accessing WAPA’s system, Needles simultaneously saw a 96-percent reduction in power outages and a 66-percent reduction in their retail cost of electricity. The utility is no longer collapsing and is able to pass along millions of dollars of savings to its customers. Small utilities make a difference to communities and WAPA makes a difference to its customers.

I think I was going the right way...the roads had construction and detours, and the lady at the front desk told me GPS was not accurate around here. Stayed a week, waiting out some very, very windy days. Toto loves this place more than anywhere! Run free!
