Mochou Lake Park, Nanjing, China 13 4 2016
MOCHOU LAKE PARK
Mochou Park spread over an area of 116 acres, is a beautiful park in the center of Nanjing city with a large lake and Children Park enclave. Once this lake was part of great Yangtze River before the river changed its course centuries ago. The name of the park is assigned to one legendary girl named Mochou who lived in Nanjing (then called Jinling) 1600 years ago. She was married to a man who was forcibly recruited by the army and sent on an expedition far away. When many years passed and he did not return, she jumped into Yangtze River thinking the water will take her to her husband. She died for her love. In 1929, the park was named after her and her statue was placed in a pond in the Park.
Another worth seeing place is Shenggi Pavilion where Emperor Zhu used to play a board game with his general Xu Da. Entry fee to the park is 35 yuan which is abnormal.

南京-第二天-Nanjing Day 2
In Nanjing, I stayed with a couple of retired teachers. The wife's brother was a driver for a living and the itinerary was amazing! Of the cities I have been to in China, Nanjing is my favorite so far. It's a city of natural beauty and rich history. On the second day, I went to the Purple Mountain and saw Sun Yat Sen's tomb, a Ming tomb, and Mochou Lake Park
