Bringing the past to life at Moesgaard Museum
How Panasonic's Visual Systems are entertaining three generations of visitors at Denmark's newly opened cultural historical museum in Aarhus.
Stepping in to history - At Moesgaard Museum, the traditional exhibition concept is challenged by going beyond the objects normally exhibited in large numbers at historical museums, and presenting an animated picture of the people who handled these objects day in and day out. Using 'scenographic environments' and an audio account in your ear, visitors are invited to follow in the footsteps of Vikings along the narrow smoke-filled alleys of Aros, Viking Age Aarhus.

Moesgaard Museum is a really cool and new museum super close to where we live, and it's so strange that I haven't been there before! It's very innovative and atypical in it's style and the way they present the items they have on display, and Morten and I really loved it there. The museum focuses on local archaeology, which means there's a lot about viking and the way Danes used to live. It's super exciting and very much worth a visit - and it's super kid friendly as well :)

Text description provided by the architects. The new Moesgaard Museum is uniquely situated in the rolling bucolic landscape of Skåde. With its sloping roofscape of grass, moss and brightly-coloured wild flowers, the building is a powerful visual landmark perceptible even from the sea.
The rectangle-shaped roof plane seems to grow out of the landscape and during the summer it will form an area for picnics, barbeques, outdoor lectures and traditional Midsummer Day’s bonfires. Come winter snowfall, the sloping roof will become transformed into the city’s best sledding hill.

Ny Særudstillingen på Moesgaard
PÅ VEJ MOD KASTASTROFEN er den 5 særudstilling som netop er åbnet på det nye Moesgaard Museum. Det var bestyrelsesformand Johannes Flensted- Jensen som holdt den første tale på italiensk.
Italiens ambassadør i Danmark Luigi Ferrari åbnede udstillingen. Udstillingsansvarlig Pauline Asingh fortalte meget levende om de sidste timer inden alting gik i stå, da vulkanen Vesuv i år 79 gik i udbrud og indkapslede Pompeji i aske og pimpsten. Udstillingen gir et fantastisk billede Pompeji før og efter katastrofen.

Visionen for det nye Moesgaard Museum (Dansk version)
Von Rostock nach Aarhus zum Moesgård Museum
Zwischen 2011 und 2014 wurde nördlich des alten Moesgård Museums in Aarhus auf Jütland in Dänemark ein 16.000 m² ein großer Neubau errichtet, für den das Architekturbüro Henning Larsen Architects verantwortlich zeichnete. Im Oktober 2014 wurde es mit einem großen, teils grasbewachsenes begehbares Pultdach eröffnet. Das emblematische, weithin sichtbare Bauwerk ist in einen Richtung Süden abfallenden Hang eingelassen. Der Oberbürgermeister der Hanse- und Universitätsstadt Rostock Roland Methling reiste dorthin, um sich von diesem tollen Gebäude faszinieren zu lassen. Anlass dafür ist sein Vorhaben von einem ähnlichen Prestigeobjekt in seiner Heimatstadt.
Geschätzt wird das Moesgaard Museum nicht nur aufgrund seiner umfangreichen permanenten Sammlung von Funden aus der dänischen Altsteinzeit bis zur Wikingerzeit (darunter Masken- und Runensteine), sondern auch wegen seiner großen ethnographischen Ausstellungen. Das Museum beherbergt u. a. die Moorleiche des Grauballemannes und den eisenzeitlichen Hortfund aus dem in Illerup Ådal.
