Old Photographs Moffat Scotland
Old photographs of Moffat, Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland. Moffat was a notable market in the wool trade, and this is commemorated with a statue of a ram by William Brodie in the town's marketplace. The ram was presented to the town by William Colvin, a local businessman, in 1875. From 1633 Moffat began to grow from a small village into a popular spa town. The infamous murderer and alleged grave robber William Hare may have stayed in the Black Bull Hotel during his escape to Ireland after turning King's evidence against William Burke. Robert Burns came for the waters and frequented the local bars.
See South Scotland
What will you see in South Scotland? Open your eyes to a world where you will be immersed in nature as you explore enchanting forests and bracing coastlines. Whether it’s discovering a secret cove, driving a coastal road or riding deep into the woods, you’ll find Dumfries & Galloway and the Scottish Borders is where you can simply ‘be’.
Strap on your helmet and feel the wind tease your skin as you ride the trails at a 7Stanes centre. These seven mountain biking centres spread across the south offer the best riding experiences in the UK, if not beyond. Glentress in the Tweed Valley Forest Park, near Peebles, is ideal for first-timers, with bike hire and easy trails.
There’s more than one adventure to be had at Glentress. Take to the treetops as you navigate the thrilling challenges of Go Ape!, an aerial assault course set high above the ground, and get a unique perspective of the forest.
Standing at the Mull of Galloway, Scotland’s most southerly point, it’ll feel like you’ve reached the end of the world, with sea stretching as far as the eye can see. Venture to the top of the lighthouse, perched on the edge of a 260 ft high cliff, and take in the natural drama of this breathtaking peninsula.
Across in the Scottish Borders near Eyemouth, St Abb’s Head National Nature Reserve near Eyemouth, is where the cries of seabirds catch in the wind and exhilarating scenery of beautiful coastal headland can be seen from cliff top paths.
Sheltered Coldingham Bay in the Scottish Borders enjoys north easterly swells where surfers can charge into the water and ride on the crest of white horses, while for those wanting to stay on dry land, the pretty inlet has a lovey sandy beach and coastal walks.
Historic wonders can be found across the south, lying in wait of the curious. Step back thousands of years at Cairn Holy Chambered Cairns, near Creetown in Dumfries & Galloway, and gaze down towards the Solway Coast. It’s one of many sites you can find as you explore the Galloway & Southern Ayrshire Biosphere, with its world-renowned UNESCO status. Wildlife-rich spots and a diverse cultural heritage combine with special communities that care passionately about their environment.
Discover excellent walking and mountain biking trails or take a forest drive in the Galloway Forest Park – you might be lucky enough to get a peek of the timid natives. Wildlife lovers shouldn’t miss the chance to visit the Red Deer Centre or the Wild Goat Park, or you might spy rare bushy-tailed red squirrels at the hide at Kirroughtree Visitor Centre.
And when night falls, the forest park is transformed into a Dark Sky Park, the first in the UK. On a clear night, up to 7,000 twinkling stars reveal themselves to the naked eye – this magical experience has to be seen to be believed.
South Scotland has always been there. Now it’s time to see it for yourself.

Dark Skies
Scotland enjoys some of the darkest skies in Europe. Escape the ‘switched-on’ world and enjoy a wonderful stargazing experience. You might even be lucky enough to spot the mesmerising display of the Northern Lights!
Stargazing -
Isn’t it amazing to think that you can view neighbouring galaxies with the naked eye in Scotland? See the brightest stars in the Milky Way, the streak of meteors, planetary neighbours such as Venus and Jupiter, and even the glow of other galaxies such as Andromeda.
Woods and forests can be fantastic places for stargazing. When the night falls, the Galloway Forest Park provides unparalleled opportunities. Designated as the UK’s first Dark Sky Park, you can see more than 7,000 stars and planets with your own eyes above the park’s sky-scraping trees.
The Isle of Coll in the Inner Hebrides, awarded the Dark Sky Community status, has no street lighting and enjoys an exceptionally dark sky, as does Moffat in Dumfries & Galloway, Europe’s first Dark Sky Town, where a clear night will reveal thousands of bright and glimmering stars.
The inky black skies over the Isle of Skye and across the Highlands also present the heavens in all their spectacular beauty. There are many other fantastic locations across Scotland for admiring the night sky, but don't take our word for it – come and see for yourself!
The Northern Lights -
Every sky-scanner’s bucket list should include seeing nature’s most spectacular phenomenon – the Aurora Borealis, aka the Northern Lights, when the heavens are ablaze with ethereal swirls of colours.
Regularly spotted in the north Highlands and islands, this marvellous display can be seen as far south as Edinburgh and beyond when the right conditions are met. Keep an eye on the auroral activity from Aurora Watch UK when planning your trip.

POWERING THE WEST IN BLM COAL COUNTRY
Coal mining is an important use on public lands and helps meet America’s energy needs. It is a strong economic driver both locally and nationally – for many rural communities, this is particularly true. The Trapper Mine near Craig, Colorado plays a vital role in the town’s economy, providing good paying jobs for members of the local community. BLM staff in the Little Snake Field Office work closely with mine operators to ensure coal development takes place in an environmentally responsible manner.

Paul & Lynn's Bread & Wine Ride To Clitheroe
Here Lynn and I ride to Clitheroe in the beautifl Ribble Valley in Lancashire to buy a rather special bottle of wine! I had received a gift token from some lovely colleagues at a local community hospital (I have changed my run at work now and no longer service this hospital) for some wine or other products sold by D. Byrne & Co. ( ). Well we chose a bottle of Shiraz Australian red with the help of a member of the Byrne family. The shop was amazing with so many bottles of everything alcholic, there was need for a pair of wooden ladders to access the high racks!! We'll certainly be back! On the way back we pass through the historic village of Whalley.
Whalley is a large village in Ribble Valley on the banks of the River Calder in Lancashire, England. It is overlooked by Whalley Nab, a large picturesque wooded hill over the river from the village.
The main road through Whalley is King Street, which leads through to Clitheroe Road. Neighbouring Whalley are the small villages of Wiswell, Billington, Barrow, and Read. Close by is Downham village and Pendle Hill which was made famous in William Harrison Ainsworth's book The Lancashire Witches.
On our return to Blackburn, we call at the ASDA supermarket to buy a couple of loaves of bread for Lynn at school where she works.
Thanks for watching our ride and don't forget to give us the thumbs up and subscribe to FJR Biker Paul and Two Wheel Obsession.com.

Listening is a more natural way of learning, when compared to reading. Written language only began at around 3200 BC, but spoken language has existed long ago.
Learning by listening is a great way to:
- increases imagination and understanding
- improves your listening skills
- improves your own spoken accent
- learn while on the move
- reduce eye strain
Now learn the vast amount of general knowledge available on Wikipedia through audio (audio article). You could even learn subconsciously by playing the audio while you are sleeping! If you are planning to listen a lot, you could try using a bone conduction headphone, or a standard speaker instead of an earphone.

SUMMARY
=======
Doctor Who is a British science fiction television programme produced by the BBC since 1963. The programme depicts the adventures of a Time Lord called the Doctor, an extraterrestrial being, to all appearances human, from the planet Gallifrey. The Doctor explores the universe in a time-travelling space ship called the TARDIS. Its exterior appears as a blue British police box, which was a common sight in Britain in 1963 when the series first aired. Accompanied by a number of companions, the Doctor combats a variety of foes while working to save civilisations and help people in need.
The show is a significant part of British popular culture, and elsewhere it has gained a cult following. It has influenced generations of British television professionals, many of whom grew up watching the series. The programme originally ran from 1963 to 1989. There was an unsuccessful attempt to revive regular production in 1996 with a backdoor pilot, in the form of a television film titled Doctor Who. The programme was relaunched in 2005, and since then has been produced in-house by BBC Wales in Cardiff. Doctor Who has also spawned numerous spin-offs, including comic books, films, novels, audio dramas, and the television series Torchwood (2006–2011), The Sarah Jane Adventures (2007–2011), K-9 (2009–2010), and Class (2016), and has been the subject of many parodies and references in popular culture.
Thirteen actors have headlined the series as the Doctor. The transition from one actor to another is written into the plot of the show with the concept of regeneration into a new incarnation, a plot device in which a Time Lord transforms into a new body when the current one is too badly harmed to heal normally. Each actor's portrayal is unique, but all represent stages in the life of the same character. Together, they form a single lifetime with a single narrative. The time-travelling feature of the plot means that different incarnations of the Doctor occasionally meet. The Doctor is currently portrayed by Jodie Whittaker, who took on the role after Peter Capaldi's exit in the 2017 Christmas special Twice Upon a Time.
