Mogo Zoo is a privately owned zoo situated 10km south of Batemans Bay in the picturesque and historic gold mining village of Mogo. We are an organisation committed to the survival of endangered animals and provide world standard facilities for over 200 animals of more than 42 rare and exotic species, including the White Lions of 'Timbavati'. Mogo Zoo also boasts the largest collection of primates in any private zoo in Australia. As an institutional member of the zoo and aquariaum association, we work closely with all major Australasian zoos, cooperating in various species management programs. We are also actively involved in many global breeding programs. Mogo Zoo is a valuable tourism asset for the south coast. We attract visitors to the area, specifically to visit our zoo and media interest in our achievements continues to increase. We aim to involve and to educate the public at large and offer our visitors an intimate, educational zoo experience.

Australia fires: Mogo Zoo animals saved by staff efforts

Amid the devastating fires ravaging Australia, a small zoo has managed to save all its animals through the extraordinary bravery of its staff.
Mogo Zoo houses Australia's largest collection of primates, along with zebras, rhinos and giraffes.
Yet when it was right in the line of a bushfire, the keepers managed to protect all 200 animals from harm.
While most were sheltered at the site, monkeys, pandas and even a tiger were temporary lodgers at one keeper's home.
On Tuesday, an evacuation order was made for the New South Wales area where the zoo is located, but staff decided to stay to protect their animals.
Zoo director Chad Staples said the situation had been apocalyptic and that it felt like Armageddon.

Mogo Zoo director Chad Staples saved dozens of animals by hiding them in his home. Not a single one of the 200 animals in the zoo was injured despite the raging bushfires.

Panasonic HX-A1 – Day and Night at Mogo Zoo
We gave our latest action cam, the Panasonic HX-A1, to our friends at Mogo Zoo in southern NSW, Australia to put it through its paces. In the daytime, the A1 got a front row seat, capturing the curiosity and playfulness of the animals. In the night time, the A1 let the zoo keepers remain undetected while observing some of the animal’s nocturnal behavior, thanks to the infrared night vision mode.
The A1’s tough features helped it survive meerkat claws, lizard tongues, dunks in water from the otters, and dust and dirt from the rhino enclosure!
Clive from Mogo Zoo said “The Panasonic HX-A1 Action Cam was a pleasure to use during our work at the zoo. It’s incredibly small and light, leaving us free to handle the animals, and it had no problems in wet or rugged conditions. The size and design made it very easy to use with the animals as it was not intrusive - except for the cheetah! The small size makes it ideal for using inside night dens and nest boxes. The night vision mode was fantastic and it allowed us to observe the night behaviour of our animals in new ways.”
