After a brief visit to dam-site we continued over BLUE MOUNTAIN PASS then onto BUSHMEN'S PASS, down to NAZARETH & visited friends at the NATIONAL UNIVERSITY OF LESOTHO at ROMA, before finally ending our tour back in MASERU.

,Maseru has a total of six hotels, two of which, the Lesotho Sun and the Maseru Sun,.[18][19] During the 1960s, prior to the relaxation of South Africa's g were popular attractions among South African visitors, but the interest in them has since waned.[19] The Basotho Hat shop at the city's entrance is a popular source for souvenirs.[5]
The main tourist attractions of Lesotho, Lancer's Gap, Sani Pass, Afriski resort, Katse dam, Thaba Bosiu and the Maluti Mountains are located a short distance from Maseru. However, distances are deceiving in Lesotho as even a 120 km trip can take over 3 hours due to the rugged terrain.

Most of the traditional thatched-roof mud-brick houses, called rondavels, have been replaced with modern housing and office blocks which have a tint of traditional architecture. There have recently been some new buildings in the center of the city, particularly the building across LNDC center which now houses Good times cafe, a Vodacom shop, offices and the new building of the Ministry of Health which was completed in late 2007.

Lesotho: New Roadways and Bridges Bring Communities Together
Lesotho’s mountainous terrain has made it hard for residents to travel between communities, and access goods and services quickly and safely. In the South East of the country, nearly 2000 meters above sea level, a road project in an area called Qacha’s Neck, has brought communities together, made river crossings simple, and opened the door for tourism to a once inaccessible place.

Abundant Waters: Harnessing Water for Lesotho's Future
The Kingdom of Lesotho has an abundance of water in its mountainous areas - the Lesotho Highlands. In Lesotho's Lowlands however, where the majority of its population live and work, there is an urgent need to increase quantity, quality and reliability of water supply. To harness water for Lesotho's future, the Government is undertaking the Metolong Dam and Water Supply Program that will more than double the supply of water to the capital Maseru and four surrounding towns.

Lesotho Highlands Tour 5th February 2018
First day of 3-day road trip through Lesotho's Maluti Mountains. At midday we left from Maseru north to Leribe & lunched at northern town of Butha-Buthe before continuing inland to climb into mountains at 2,820m high Moteng Pass. From there we traversed the 3,000 metre high 46kms long Roof of Africa road past the Afriski mountain resort & Letseng Diamond Mine before descending into the deep valleys to small town of Mapholaneng, and further on east towards Mokhotlong. The highway descends down to a river crossing of the great Senqu River of Lesotho - where it meets other great rivers in a confluence basin of gorges before heading south then west into South Africa to become the Orange (Gariep) River. After a brief visit to Mokhotlong we turned back & continued south along the recently constructed A31 highway following the Sehonghong River Valley until a final climb over the 3,240 metre high Koti-Sephola Pass & down to Sani Flats. A short 10km drive further on saw our arrival at Sani Mountain Lodge by 8pm, where we had a meal & stayed overnight at the nearby backpackers hostel.

Google Earth Tour: The Lesotho Highland Water Project
Another Google Earth Tour, this time for the Lesotho Highland Water Project.
Having noticed that a) information online is both scant and highly technical, and b) The Oxford AQA textbook is over-complicated for GCSE level (plus it has incorrect information in it), I decided to try and make sense of the Lesotho Highland Water project using Google Earth.
Hopefully this is as correct as I could make it, apologies if you spot any errors made or mispronunciations!
Music is by me; I've asked myself permission to use it and luckily I said yes.
