Moira House is an outstanding independent Boarding and Day School, situated on high ground in Eastbourne with views over the sea and Downs. Moira House provides continuous education through Nursery School, Junior school, Senior School and Sixth Form.
Moira House is set within 15 acres of attractively landscaped grounds, on the outskirts of the historic town of Eastbourne on the south coast of England.
Eastbourne is only 75 minutes from London by train and has easy access to two international airports, Heathrow and Gatwick.
Founded in 1875, Moira House welcomes girls from the age of two to eighteen with full, weekly or flexi-boarding offered from the age of ten. The school takes its name from the first premises in Surrey which belonged to an Irish nobleman from County Down, the Earl of Moira.

Gerald Edward Moira (26 January 1867 -- 2 August 1959) was an English painter who became best known for his murals.
Gerald Moira was born in London, under the name Giraldo de Moura, which he later anglicised. Son of a former Portuguese diplomat who became a miniature painter.
He studied painting at the Royal Academy Schools and then in Paris. He later worked in London, Middlesex and Edinburgh.
He first exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1891. He is often groupled with the Pre-Raphaelites. His first commission (1896) for a mural was by J. Lyons and Co. for the Trocadero restaurant in Shaftesbury Avenue, London.
His other early commissions included the ceilings of the vestry and library of the Unitarian Chapel, Liverpool, the board-room of Lloyd's Register of Shipping, and murals and stained glass windows for the Old Bailey (1902-6).
He also painted in oil, tempera, and watercolour. Moira was principal of the Edinburgh College of Art from 1923 until 1932, president of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters, vice-president of the Royal Watercolour Society, a member of the Royal West of England Academy, and a founder member of the National Portrait Society.
