Mokau Beach - Stalactite, Strata, and Butterfly
On the way back from our Mount Taranaki tramp, my sister and I stopped in Mokau, a nice little town on the west coast of New Zealand's North Island, located at the mouth of the Mokau River on the North Taranaki Bight. I had stopped in Mokau six years earlier, on the way back from a gig in Hawera with my old band, IronStein. I remembered the town and asked my sister (who was the driver) if we could stop in for lunch there. While on the beach, we observed the interesting layers, or strata, in the cliffs by the beach, and also found a miniature stalactite developing there.
Mokau is in the Waitomo District and Waikato Region local government areas, just north of the boundary with the New Plymouth District and the Taranaki Region. It has a permanent population of about 400, but this swells to several thousand during the summer. This video was shot during springtime, so it was still pretty quiet. Mokau is a popular location for whitebaiting and other fishing including for kahawai and snapper.
I'm a singer, songwriter and guitarist from New Zealand (currently based in Pukekohe). My channel is based around a concept called Ceolskog. My videos can be music, the outdoors, comedy, or a mix. Ceol means music in Irish, and skog is Norwegian for forest. You can find my music on iTunes, Spotify, Bandcamp, Soundcloud, Amazon, and YouTube too (of course).

Mōkau, whitebait capital - Roadside Stories
The Mōkau River is famed as a source of whitebait -- the juvenile forms of native freshwater fish, often made into delicious fritters. In the 1830s it was the site of a trick by the migrating Ngāti Toa tribe, who lit many fires and dressed their women as chiefs to make their party appear larger and scare off pursuers.

Goat Hunting At Mokau Series #2
HuntingTheNaki originated from 3 guys from The Naki who are 18 years old and who decided to make a Youtube channel and upload hunting videos from which we hunted, we regularly go hunting and always get a good kill on our bad and good days. The animals and pests we like to hunt are Possums, Pigs, Goats, Deer, Rabbits/Haire and many others. We don’t always upload the hunting of all our catches as we are always hunting and it would be a burdon to always have the camera. When we go hunting we make sure we have the right weapon, load, and equipment so we ensure the highest standards of safety. We have many hunting dogs which have been well trained by Jack Potroz over the years so we can also ensure we have the right dog for the right hunt. We apologise for not always uploading videos such as in the school holidays of term 1 and last year as we got caught up with work and couldn't upload for specific reasons. We all have been hunting for many years so we know all the rights and wrongs so safety and security is always at the top of our lists, Every time we go for a hunt we ensure that the rifles, or knifes, dogs we always make sure they are all in great condition before we go so nothing bad happens on the trips. Our main animals we aim to hunt are Pigs and Deer as they are the best to hunt as we like. Always remember to like, favorite, and/or subscribe, it really helps out the channel and it is really highly appreciated. We will still try out hardest to make as many videos as we can but we wont make any promises as work always gets busy. Also comments are very helpful as we can improve what we are doing with your feedback and you comments as they always help.
