Japanese Style Photography, the art of Moriyama Daido
Moriyama Daido (森山大道 born 1938), is an incredibly important Japanese photographer who was among the first to fuse the deeply rooted Japanese wabisabi aesthetic with photography as he has documented the changing world around him for the last 5 decades. His stunning work is more like a trip through faded memories and so much more than initially meets the eye.

MORIYAMA-SAN - Bêka & Lemoine - Trailer
The full movie here:
One week in the extraordinary-ordinary life of Mr. Moriyama, a Japanese art, architecture and music enlighted amateur who lives in one of the most famous contemporary Japanese architecture, the Moriyama house, built in Tokyo in 2005 by Pritzker-prize winner Ryue Nishizawa (SANAA).
Introduced in the intimacy of this experimental microcosm which redefines completely the common sense of domestic life, Ila Bêka recounts in a very spontaneous and personal way the unique personality of the owner: a urban hermit living in a small archipelago of peace and contemplation in the heart of Tokyo. From noise music to experimental movies, the film let us enter into the ramification of the Mr. Moriyama's free spirit.
Moriyama-San, (63 min), the first film about noise music, acrobatic reading, silent movies, fireworks and Japanese architecture!

Watch Bêka & Lemoine's movie Moriyama-San, about the owner of Ryue Nishizawa's Moriyama House
The film made by Ila Bêka and Louise Lemoine about the occupant of Ryue Nishizawa's seminal Moriyama House is now available to watch on Dezeen in full – but only for a limited time!
Moriyama-San is an hour-long documentary about Yasuo Moriyama, the urban hermit who lives inside a house built by one of the two founders of Pritzker Prize-winning Japanese architecture studio SANAA back in 2005.
It featured in The Japanese House: Architecture and Life after 1945, an exhibition at the Barbican in London earlier this year. But it has been released online for the first time this week and, to mark the occasion, it will be available to watch here for free from 15 to 18 December 2017.
Ila Bêka captured the footage in the summer of 2016, when a short visit to Moriyama's home turned into a week-long stay.
In spite of the language barrier, the pair bonded over a shared love of Japanese noise – an obscure type of music made up of unusual sounds.

Famous Japanese song Rimi Natsukawa - Nada sou sou
Video and music rights owned by Victor Entertainment Inc. I do not own this video. This song Nada sou sou was released in 2001, it became a long seller, selling for more than 3 years. Finally it reached 1.2 million singles sold, and a movie called Nada sou sou too, was made, based on the lyrics. This is a cover of the song by BEGIN, released in 2000. Hayley Westenra sung an English cover for her album Hayley sings Japanese Songs.

PROVOKE || Provocative Materials for Thought / Complete Reprint of 3 Volumes
Provoke was first published in November 1968 as a dojin-shi, or self-published magazine. It was originally conceived by art critic Koji Taki (1928-2011) and photographer Takuma Nakahira (1938-2015), with poet Takahiko Okada (1939-1997) and photographer Yutaka Takanashi as dojin members. The subtitle for the magazine was “Provocative Materials for Thought”, and each issue was composed of photographs, essays and poems. After releasing the second and third issue with Daido Moriyama as a subsequent member, the group broke up with their last publication First, Abandon the World of Pseudo-Certainty - an overview edition of the three issues. Provoke’s grainy, blurry, and out-of-focus photographs were initially ridiculed as are-bure-boke and stirred a great deal of controversy, yet it had created a strong impact inside and outside of the photography world during that time. However, today, Provoke has become an extremely rare book and very few people have seen the original.

Daido Tokyo - Entretien avec Daido Moriyama - 2016
Exposition Daido Moriyama, Daido Tokyo
